3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Chronology:
5 Feb 48 - PW was conscripted at HUNGNAM and was sent to the 4th Co, 2nd Bn, 1st Regt, 1st Ind Div in SINUIJU for basic training.
5 Aug 48 - 1st Inf Div moved to SARIWON.
15 Nov 49 - 1st Inf Div moved on down to HAEJU.
25 Jun 50 - 1st Div invaded South KOREA, PW was made 1st Sgt.
28 Jun 50 - PW was assigned to the 43rd Div.
7 Oct 50 - Entered battle at PAEKCHON.
Unit Organization and Strength:
The 43rd Div was comprised of 4 Regts or 3 Bns each. Each Bn has 3 Cos. PW estimates about 750 men in a Bn.
Equipment: (1st Bn - 74th Regt) as of 7 Oct 50.
4 -82 Cannon, 2 -45mm Cannon, 11 HMG and 27 LMG
As of Jul 50 - 8 -122mm Howitzer and 76mm Rapid fire gun - 8, 6 - 76mm Cannon.
Unit History:
15 Jul 50 - The 43rd Div was activated in HAEJU with 2 Regts.
12 Sep 50 - The 74th Regt was attached to the 43rd Div at HAEJU.
Dispositions:
The 43rd Hq was located about 200 m north of HAEJU RR Station.
Personalities:
1st Bn CO - CHAE, Hung, Major, Age - 38.
74th Regt CO - LEE, Too Ik, Col, Age - 27 (?). Returned from MOSCOW after 6 months of Officer Training School.

Morale and Propaganda:
Propaganda Leaflets - PW saw propaganda leaflets, however there was no opportunity to desert his unit and surrender.
