PW gave information freely. Was in the Chinese Nationalist Army for one-half year. Joined the Chinese 8th Route Army in December 1949, and remained in unit till date of capture.
Reliability - Fair.
MILITARY HISTORY:Jun 49 - Joined the Nationalist Army at TIENTSIN (天津), CHINA.
Dec 49 - PW’s unit surrendered to 8th Route Army at SHISEN SHO (四川省). Two days later, sent to KOHOKU SHO (湖北省) for three months political and military training, then sent to KOKURYU KO SHO, HOKUAN KEN, MANCHURIA (滿洲黑龍江省北安縣) and assigned to 370th Regt at CHIAN KEN (揖安縣).
15 Oct 50 - Departed CHIAN KEN and crossed Korean border.
29 Oct 50 - Captured. PW had no knowledge of crossing border until they encountered ROK units.
WEAPONS AND PERSONNEL:Organization: 370th Regt was composed of 3 bns of 4 cos each, and 3 plats to each co. Regt’l strength about 2,100 men. Co strength, about 170 men.
Weapons: 27 x 60 MM Gun to Bn with 160 rds of ammo each, and carried by 40 horses. 4 X 120 MM guns and 4 X 9.2 MM AT Guns observed in regt. Soldiers all carried Meiji 38 and 99 models rifles. (Jap)
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:While in MANCHURIA PW was told by officers that the CCF plans to reinforce border patrols.
