1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was seriously wounded when captured and was hospitalized without interrogation. Reliability - Good.

3. MILITARY HISTORY:
27 Aug 50 - Inducted at WONSAN.
17 Sep 50 - Entire 563 unit departed WONSAN.
22 Sep 50 - Entire unit arrived SEOUL.
25 Sep 50 - 1 Bn was attacked and scattered.
Source was wounded and captured.
Prior to the attack the men were told by the plt ldrs that any men running away or retreating will be shot. PW saw one men shot when trying to escape.

4. INFORMATION ON WONSAN AREA:
a. Heard there were land mines planted on east coast of KALMA peninsula. Only a selected few were picked for the job. PW does not know the location of the mined area. Heard one man was killed while planting the mines o/a 6 Sep 50.
b. Saw approx 10 single engine fighter planes in wooded area camouflaged with tree branches near airfield. Location could not be pointed on the map due to not being familiar with the terrain.
c. Log obstacles were seen all over the airfield.
d. Rumors of possible landing by the enemy on the east coast of KALMA peninsula was prevalent both among the military and civilians.
At 0400 hrs, 6 Sep 50 the 2 Co was alerted and took up their position in the trenches along the beach. The troops were guided to and from the trenches to avoid the mined area. No marking were observed designating any restricted areas.
