3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Chronology:
Conscripted into the NK army on 18 Aug 50. Was sent to 2nd Eng Regt at KANLI and received basic Eng Training for about 20 days. On 4 Sep left KANLI and arrived at YOJU on 18 Sep 50.
Unit Organization and Strength:
2nd Eng Regt contained 1,200 men.
Equipment:
Only squad ldrs and above were armed with rifles.
Unit History:
The 2nd Eng Regt was at SUNAN until 4 Sep 50. Left SUNAN on 4 Sep 50 and arrived at YOJU on 18 Sep 50. This unit did not Participate in any battles.
4. GENERAL:Transportation of Supplies:
When the 2nd Eng Regt was stationed at KANLI, PW observed many trucks and trains transporting arms and ammo to and from a mountain located about 700 m W of the KANLI RR station. PW did not actually go to this mountain but believes tunnels are located in the mountain. All of the above movements were made during the dark hrs.
Russian Advisors:
PW observed two Russian advisors in the vicinity of the 2nd Eng Regt while they were at KANLI. These officers were wearing military uniforms and were always inspecting the regimental area.
