2. ASSESSMENT:
Information is fairly reliable.
PW graduated Elem School 25 Mar 37 at CHASAN MYON,
PW and six others were captured by UN forces when they were lost from their unit.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
PW was inducted in the army 14 May 49. Took 45 days basic training at PYONGYANG. Repaired tanks at his unit’s shop in PYONGYANG from Aug 49 to Jun 50. On 15 Jun 50, the 107th Tank Regt moved to CHORWON. On 25 Jun 50, tanks of 107th Tank Regt invaded South Korean territory. On 3 Jul 50, Independent Technical Co left CHORWON for SEOUL.

Original Strength:
The 107th Tank Regt consisted of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Bn; Ind Tech Co; Ind Automatic MG Co; and Ind Tank Co.
There were 92 men in Ind Tank Co and 7 officers, all of whom were technicians.
Last Known Composition of Unit:
About 45 men remained in PW’s unit just before he was captured.

Equipment:
12 medium tanks (T-34) were assigned to each company. PW saw at least 50 tanks in the 107th Tank Regt.
One automatic machine gun was assigned to each man of the Ind Auto MG Company. Ind Tech Co was equipped only with repairing tools.

Unit Duties:
Independent Tech Co was to repair and maintain tanks damaged in combat.

Unit History:
Independent Tech Co was organized together with the 107th Tank Regt. Ind Tech co moved from CHORWON to SEOUL on 3 Jul 50. Stayed in SEOUL for 20 days and on 18 Aug 50 went to KUMCH’ON. With KUMCH’ON as central hq, PW and six others were sent to the front to repair tanks.
On 23 Sep 50, they were sent to YONGDONG for same purpose. Upon returning to KUMCH'ON, they discovered their unit had moved to INCHON. As they went toward INCHON they were captured.

Communications:
Ind Tech Co used trucks of US and Russian make. These trucks were mostly GMC 6 x 6.

Personalities:
Lt Col CHOE, Wu Shik, Regt Comdr, age - 30 (approx), weight - 60 kg, height - 1 m 60 cm, fat with round face.
Maj KIM, Pyong Kil, Regt Cultural Officer, (propaganda), age - 32, height - 1 m 60 cm, weight - 68 kg, thin build with narrow long face.
Sr Lt CHO, Ha Suk, Independent Tech Co Comdr, ago - 26, height - 1 m 60 cm, weight - 60 kg, fat with round face.

Morale and Propaganda:
Morale was high while invading the South, however, it is now very low. PW never saw nor hoard of propaganda leaflets.

4. GENERAL:
Foreign Elements:
There was one Russian officer attached to the 107th Tank Regt from May-Nov of 1949. He gave advice on repairing tanks. Returned to RUSSIA about the 30th of Nov.
The tanks which 107th Regt used were left by the Russians.
PW heard from Propaganda Officer of a battalion in KUMCH'ON, a month before he was captured, that CCF were planning to enter NK.
