Morale and Propaganda:
The morale of the troops in the 1st Regt, 6th Div was relatively low compared to the other units of the 6th Div who were trained in MANCHURIA. They were considered raw recruits, unfit to be called regular soldiers. They held a feeling of resentment against the troops trained in MANCHURIA, especially when the Regt’l CO and other staff officers were demoted for inefficiency in combat. PW read a US propaganda leaflet once while in a hospital in CHONJU. The leaflet announced the advance of UN forces along the MASAN front and he realized the futility of the war, especially against the combined forces of 53 nations.

There were a total of 121 fire hydrants and 32 water reservoirs (4 m x 5m x 3 m) within the city limits of HAMHUNG.
