3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Chronology:
27 Aug 49: PW was inducted into NKA in P’YONGYANG (平壤) and was assigned to Ministry of Interior, 1st Brigade, 3rd Bn, 9th Co,
28 Aug 49: Unit was transferred to YANGYANG (襄陽) and received two months training.
3rd Bn of 1st Brigade performed patrol and guard duties along the 38th parallel and YANGYANG Area with 600 men for 8 months. The total strength of the 1st Brigade was 4,000 men.
25 Jun 50: o/a 1700 hrs the 1st Brigade crossed the 38th parallel and advanced along the east coast of KOREA from YANGYANG to KANGNUNG (江陵) then SW to CH’ECH’ON (堤川). Until 21 Jul 50 a division was spearheading toward CH’ECH’ON (堤川).
21 Jul 50: The lat Brigade was expanded to approximately 10,000 men and the unit designated the 8th Div, PW was assigned to the Training Bn.
26 Sep 50: PW suffered an attack of malaria and was put in warm shelter. When he awakened troops were gone. Be surrendered to civilian police in P’UNGCH’ON (豊村) police station.

Strategic Information:
Epidemic prevention Bureau of N. KOREA is located in P’YONGYANG where they manufacture varieties of vaccines and medicine. It is operated by the NK Government. It is located 3½ km SE of P'yongyang Main RR station and 1½ km NE of Taedonggang RR Station. Produces bacteriological products. Used rats and rabbits for experiments. Interior details unknown. Observation only from the outside.
PW estimated that 80% of losses and damage caused in this war were due to the effectiveness of the UN aerial activities. Transportation of supplies, equipment and troops was made impossible during the daylight. Most of PW’s unit suffered from malaria and intestinal disorders. Intestinal disorder is caused from eating too heavy and fast after starving for a number of days, and drinking unpurified water.
