ASSESSMENT:
PW was cooperative, but military information was limited, because he worked with volunteer group.

T/O & E AND STRENGTH:
Rear Bridge Reconstruction Regt composed of three Battalions and two Independent Bridge construction companies.
Battalions composed of three Companies.
Company composed of 4 or 5 platoons.
Personnel for the Battalions were usually taken from men in the occupied areas, Technicians usually became officers. Battalion C.O. and Staff officers were North Koreans.

Personnels brought their own carpenter tools. Other materials, such as nails, hammers, saws, bulldozers, were promised to construction units by the Home Ministry but they never arrived.
There was one petroleum operated 70 cm round saw in his Battalion.

LOCATION & ACTIVITIES OF UNITS (Aa of 26 Sep 50)
PW stated that the Regt C.O. was at PYONGYANG Home Ministry Building and the Assistant Regt C.O. was at SEOUL. 10th Battalion Headquarter was located at TAEJON.

PERSONAL & UNIT HISTORY:
From 15 Feb 50, PW worked for the Civ Utility Dept under the Home Ministry as a utility inspector. On 10 Jul 50, the utility Dept (SHISETSU SHO) was reorganized into the Rear Bridge Reconstruction Regt. On the same day, PW was commissioned Captain.

WOODEN BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION:
The volunteer group at KONGJU were legging to construct a wooden bridge, 240 meters long x 6 meters wide and 1 meter high above the water level. This proposed bridge was supposed to be constructed at a point 2 km East of KONGJU across the KINKO River. Work abandoned after one week. There was no other bridge construction in South Korea for this unit.
Wooden bridges were being constructed to replace demolished bridges. Average capacity, about 12 - 13 tons.
Fords were also constructed as alternate crossings.
