2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was very intelligent and cooperative. Reliability, good.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
1 Aug 50 - Inducted at HWANGJU (黃州) OCS. Approx 360 men were in two (2) Co’s. PW and approx 180 men were assigned to 1st Co.
1 Sep 50 - Approx 360 men completed one month training and commissioned Jr Lt’s (少尉).
6 Sep 50 - Approx 360 Jr Lt’s and approx 600 NCO’s who received training at HWANGJU NCO Training Center arrived SEOUL. 300 Jr Lt’s and 500 NCO’s were sent to TAEJON. 110th Security Regt CO, who came from Security GHQ in SEOUL, ordered PW and 60 Jr Lt’s and 100 NCO’s to organize the 110th Security Regt at KOCH’ANG (居昌) by 20 Sep 50. Food and ammunition was furnished from TAEGU Area.
16 Sep 50 - Arrived KOCH’ANG. Began to organize 110th Security Regt. Strength of 110th Security Regt was to be approx 2,400.
20 Sep 50 - 110th Security Regt activated with actual strength spprox 60 officers, 100 NCO’s, and 200 conscripts from the KOCH’ANG Area.
26 Sep 50 - 110th Regt (approx 360 men) departed KOCH’ANG.
30 Sep 50 - Arrived KUMSAN (錦山) via HAMYANG (咸陽) and CHANGSU (長水). Same day 110th Security Regt became disorganized. PW and 2 officers moved north in an attempt to cross the 38˚, following the T’AEBAEK Mt range (太白山脈).
1 Oct 50 - PW, 2 officers and 5 men from another unit were surrounded by ROK unit and captured.
Composition and History of 110th Security Regt:
110th Security Regt activated 20 Sep 50, and rendered ineffective 30 Sep 50.
Actual Strength at KOCH’ANG, 20 Sep 50.

Morale and Propaganda:
Morale: High at the early stages of the war but began to wane when NKA started losing ground. SK Conscripts were Hard to control and could not be trusted.
Propaganda Leaflets: o/a 23 Sep 50, at KOCH’ANG, leaflets were dropped. Leaflets said, “UN Forces have landed in INCH’ON, better surrender”. PW believed the leaflets, but due to his position (Plt Ldr), he was not able to express his desires to fellow officers.

4. GENERAL:
HWANGJU (黃州) Area: (as of 1 Sep 50)
HWANGJU OCS: Located approx 2 km NE of HWANGJU (880-1770) center of the city. There is one large building approx 30m x 100m, the HWANGJU Primary School Building. Building used as barracks. Classes were conducted in the open.
Organized 1 Aug 50 (1st Class).
Training: one month course. Principal subjects were Tactics, Political Indoctrination, Range firing, military regulation.
Requirement to enter OCS:
1. North Korean
2. Higher Middle School graduate or better. However, since 35 Jun 50 requirements were lowered to 3 years Middle School education.
