ASSESSMENT:
PW was cooperative but confused.

T/O & E AND STRENGTH:
The Occupied Area Security Hq was composed of the 102nd, 103rd, 104th and other unknown Regiments.
Each regiment was composed of 4 x battalions.

b. Equipment & ammo: 
  (1) Troops were never issued arms. They picked up abandoned weapons such as US M-1 rifles, US carbines, Jap Model 38 rifles, Russian M1891/30 rifles, and SMG's.


LOCATION & ACTIVITIES OF UNIT:
O/a 24 Sep 50 the 2nd Bn, 102nd Regt was ordered to proceed to TAEJON from CHONJU. 2nd Bn received an air attack while en route and rested for a day to regroup. While resting there, they saw many soldiers retreating from the NAKTONG River area.
The battalion commander, learning that further resistance was useless, ordered each company commander to lead his troops to the TAE PAEK Mountain Range (太白山脈) where he would meet them and lead then to North KOREA.

PERSONAL & UNIT HISTORY:
Inducted 29 Jan 49 at WONSAN. Received 15 days training at WONSAN and assigned to a Security Unit of Ministry of Interior of WONSAN.
PW transferred to 7th Border Guard Regt located in YONCHON during March 50.
The 7th Border Guard Ragt entered SEOUL on 28 June 50.
PW assigned to newly-organized 102nd Regt on 10 Jul 50.
The 102nd Regt departed SEOUL on 18 Jul 50 and moved south, following line troops. Unit was assigned as security guard of TAEJON, MUJU, and YONGDONG after capture of these towns by NK troops.
Unit ordered to proceed to CHUNJU on 20 Sep 50. 2nd Bn, 102nd Regt was ordered to proceed to TAEJON o/a 24 Sep 50, but the battalion separated on orders from Bn Co. PW captured 8 km E of CHONGJU by ROK 11th Regt as he was trying to make his way to North KOREA.

REPLACEMENTS:
The 102nd Regt conscripted its troops after arrival in South KOREA. Approx 90% of troops with 102nd Regt were South Koreans.
