2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was cooperative, but not very intelligent. His information may be considered fairly reliable.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
15 Oct 48: PW was inducted at P’YONGYANG. Assigned to the 7th Btry, 2rd Bn, 4th Div Arty in CHINNAMP’O. Received basic artillery (76mm gun) training for 3 months.
? May 49: Promoted to Sgt and took command of the 4th Sqd, 2nd Plt, 7th Btry.
25 May 50: PW was sent to the Political School in P’YONGYANG. This Course was to last a year.
10 Jul 50: Approx 150 students including PW were commissioned Lts (中尉) upon graduation. They actually studied only 20 days in the Political School. PW was assigned to the 76mm Gun Btry, 72nd Ind Inf Regt in CHINNAMP’O. Assigned as the Political officer. The 72nd Ind Inf Regt held maneuver at “SA-DONG” (寺洞) from 4 Aug 50 to 13 Aug 50.
O/a 14 Aug 50: The 72nd Independent Inf Regt departed “SA-DONG” by train for SEOUL.
O/a 17 Aug 50: Reached KAESONG (開城) and from here they marched.
O/a 3 Sep 50: The 72nd Ind Inf Regt reached NAMP’YONG (南平) via SEOUL, CH’ONAN (天安), NONSAN (論山), I-RI (裡里), and KWANGJU (光州). Regt Hqs (including supporting units) remained in NAMP’YONG. The three (3) Rifle Bns were at villages in the vincinity of NAMP’YONG.
O/a 7 Sep 50: PW heard from his Btry CO that the three (3) Rifle Bns of the 72nd Ind Inf Regt departed for MOKP’O (木浦) and KUNSAN (群山) Area.
27 Sep 50: The 72nd Ind Inf Regt’l Hqs (including supporting units) was ordered to TAEJON. Departed NAMP’YONG by train.
29 Sep 50: Reached HAMNYOL (咸悅) via SAGA-RI (四街里). From here they marched to YOSAN (礪山). Reached YOSAN at 1100 hrs. US troops entered the village of YOSAN. There were approx 250 men in the 72nd Ind Inf Regt Hqs and they all fled into the mountains. PW was separated from the others and headed towards TAEJON.
30 Sep 50: PW was captured by the ROK police at a village located 6 km NE of YOSAN.

Unit History:
PW stated that the 72nd Ind Inf Regt was organized Jul 50 at CHINNAMP’O, The troops were mostly recent conscripts and had only about 20 days of training.
