PW was cooperative; information considered reliable.
3. MILITARY HISTORY:4 Jul 50: Inducted at P'YONGYANG (平壤) and attended OCS.
29 Jul 50: Graduated with approx 100 fellow officers. That night approx 80 officers departed P'YONGYANG by rail for HAMHUNG (咸興).
1 Aug 50: Arrived HAMHUNG and PW assigned to 585 Unit, 8th Bn, 6th Co, 2nd Plat.
15 Sep 59: 80 officers of 585 Unit departed HAMHUNG for CHONG-JIN (淸津). PW heard from fellow officers that the EM and NCO’s of 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th Bns were transferred to KILCHU (吉州) and assigned to 507th Brigade. Whereabouts of 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Bns unknown.
30 Sep 50: Arrived CHONGJIN and above officers assigned to 570 Unit.
15 Oct 50: Only 2nd Bn of 570 Unit departed CHONGJIN for HUEMUN (會文).
17 Oct 50: Arrived HUEMUN.
15 Nov 50: Departed HUEMUN for PONGGANG (鳳岡) on foot.
16 Nov 50: Arrived PONGGANG and 2nd Bn intergrated into 938 Unit. Said Bn redesignated 4th Bn.
19 Nov 50: 4th Bn dispersed due to heavy air bombardment, PW and a SM retreated to CHUURONJANG (朱乙溫場) via ODAEJIN (洖台鎭).
22 Nov 50: Surrendered.
4. WEAPON AND PERSONNEL:Strength: 19 Nov 50; 4th Bn 938 Unit - 420 EM and officers.
WEAPONS: 19 Nov 50; 12: LMGs with 6000 rds, 4 HMGs with 2800 rds, 9x82mm mortars with 180 shells, 20 PPSH SMG with 2800 rds. 390 Russian rifles with 100 rds each, and 50% of men had hand grenades.
5. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Hearsaya. PW heard from company commander (NU) and EM of his Plat that all UN PsW who were interned in HOERYONG (會文) PW Camp was transferred to MANCHURIA o/a 15 Nov 50.
