The 916th Unit consisted of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and an Ind AAA Bn. Details of the Ind AAA Bn unknown. The 1st Bn consisted of 3 Btrys (the 1st, 2nd and 3rd). Each Btry had 4 AAMGs. The PUAZO 1941 data computer lacked accuracy, and due to that fact 3 Russian made radar computers operated by approx 100 Russian officers and EM were used by the Bn for three days, but were not used afterwards due to poor accuracy. Three Russian Arty Majors were assigned to the 3rd Bn for supervision of the use of the "PUAZO 1941" data computer. Each Btry had approx 50 to 60 men. See sketch for Btry breakdown.
Approx half of the troops were armed with MOSSIN NAGANT carbines. Ammo for the AA guns was scarce. No US planes were shot down,

5. SPECIAL EEI ON ARTY:
The mission of the 916th Unit was to defend P’YONGYANG from air raids, During the period of 5 Oct 50 to 19 Oct 50 approx 15 were wounded and 3 killed in the 6th Btry by US fighter planes. One AA gun was put out of commission by bomb fragments. Men were afraid of air raids, especially by fighter planes.
Due to insufficient supply of ammo only about 10 rds were fired by a gun per day. AA guns were dug in a hole 5-6m in diameter, and one meter deep with sand bags piled around. See sketch for position of guns in a Btry.
PW heard that there were 2 or 3x12mm AAMGs near the gun positions. PW stated that there were frequent troubles with the guns because of inadequate supply of lubricating oil. All equipment was abandoned at P'YONGYANG when the unit retreated.

6. FOREIGN ELEMENTS:
PW observed CCF troop concentrations in CHONGJIN area. Strength estimated at approx 1,500. Observation made between 1 Nov and 10 Nov 50. Troops were armed with rifles, LMGs and knee mortars. No heavier weapons observed.
