FIELD REPORT (24 Div - LDI - 0122) 20 November 1950

1. PERSONAL DETAILS:
NAME: KIM Yon Man (Civilian)
AGE: 35
PLACE OF BIRTH: TANSON-NI, TANSO-GUN.
HOME ADDRESS: Same as above
PLACE OF CAPTURE: Vic KAECHON (YE5595) 18 Nov 50.

2. SUMMARY:
Subject was employed at a Railroad Station in TANSON-NI in Apr 49. On 1 Jul 50, subject accidentally derailed a train causing a 2 hr delay in transportation of troops and weapons to the south. Was sentenced by court to be confined at hard labor at SINUIJU for 2 years. On 20 Jul 50 was sent from SINUIJU to CHOMMA -SAN approx 12 - 13 km southeast of SINUIJU. In CHOMMA-SAN there were approx 500 convicts. Subject worked digging and transporting out the ore by push carts. A small train pulling 6 - 8 cars hands away the ore approx 6 times a day. On 020200 Nov 50 convicts were taken to SINUIJU and released. (021200 Nov 50). Subject stntes some convicts were taken to an unknown place.
On 2 Nov 50 at SINUIJU subject observed approx 30 CCF marching toward NAMSINUIJU. Same date at PAENGMA XE3346, observed approx 300 CCF, some dug in mountains. 6 days later at KUSONG observed CCF (no. unk) equipped with LMG and rifles dug in. At PONGSAN-MYON (YE2815) observed approx 300 CCF digging trenches on 11 Nov 50. Was captured by CCF troop and taken to their headquarters located in mountain. Was asked questions by a Korean Interpreter. Released next day and proceeded to go back to his home. On 18 Nov 50 subject was picked up by UN Forces vic KAESONG.
