Was in good physical condition and of average intelligence. PW was Middle School student prior to service. Information obtained considered doubtful. Not recommended for further interrogation.
3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:a. Chronology:
PW inducted into NK Army 1 Oct 50 at NONG-GAN GUN, CHIUNMYON (XD1001). Assigned to 46th Div without training. 46th Div departed NONG-GANG GUN 4 or 5 Oct 50 for SUKCHON (YD2665). PW received approx ten (10) days training there. On 18 Oct 50 Rcn Company departed SUKCHON for YONGBYON (YE4011). On or about 25 Oct 50 Company departed YONGBYON and arrived TAECH'ON (YE1322) 28 Oct 50. Div located in TAECH’ON when company arrived. At TAECH'ON 46th Div had no contact with UN Forces; however, received heavy shelling. 46th Div retreated to TAEGWAN (XE8753) 1 Nov 50. Departed TAEGWAN for PALWON MYON (YE3518) via KUSONG (XE9229) and TAECH'ON on or about 6 Nov 50. On or about 9 Nov 50, 46th Div withdrew from PALWON MYON to SUSONG. Reason for withdraw unknown to PW. From KUSONG 46th Div advanced to a location approx 10 miles North of CHONGJU (XD9096). On 19 or 20 Nov, 46th Div moved to OBONG-MYON (XE9917). PW believes Div still located there. On Nov 20 Rcn Plat dispatched to a point five (5) miles North of PONGJI-TONG and met by NK officer (Major). Believed to be CO of Rcn Section. Name of officer unknown. PW and one other acted as guards for this officer. Departed 230900 Nov for PONGJI-TONG. Approx 2 miles from destination encountered UN patrol. Officer escaped to the hills. PW did not know mission of officer. PW's unit (46th Div) composed of 3 Inf Regts and one Arty Regt. Further breakdown of Div unknown. Rcn Company had 50 men. No heavy weapons. Weapons and strength of other units unknown.
4. GENERAL:Heard CCF were located at NAECHONGJONG 231800 Nov 50. Strength unknown. Observed 600 - 700 CCF vic of KANDONG (YE2317) 9 Nov, marching toward TAECH'ON.
US PsW: Observed 3 US PsW at TAECH’ON on or about 10 Nov 50.
MORALE: Comparatively low. Many have read leaflets dropped by UN and are willing to surrender. PW stated that NK soldiers from the Northeastern KOREA have considerably higher morale due to closer contact with RUSSIA. PW believes 30 percent of men in 46th Div are from Northeastern KOREA.
