1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was confused about places and dates. Information is considered to be very unreliable.

3. T/O & E AND STRENGTH OF:
40th Army, 118th Div, 353rd Regt, Med Co, 3rd Stretcher Plat, 2nd Sq. (as of 10 Nov 50)
40th Army: 4 Inf Divisions
118th Div: Composition unknown
353rd Regt: Composition unk, except for PW's Med Co.
Med Co: 3 Stretcher Plats and Med Aide Plat
3rd Platoon: 3 Squads
3rd Stretcher Platoon:
a. Personnel: 2 officers and 44 EM
b. Equipment & ammo:
2 Pistols, Mauser (30 rds per)
4 Rifles (make unk) (100 rds per)
Grenade (1 per man)
12 Stretchers
12 Blankets
Medical Platoon:
a. Personnel: Platoon officer, 4 med officers and 35 EM
b. Equipment & ammo:
5 Pistols Mauser (30 rds per)
Medical equipment and medicine:
No automotive vehicles in this unit.
Medical Company:
a. Personnel: Approx 178 officers and EM
No other equipment in Medical Co other than those mentioned in Plat T/O & E.
PW did not see any Korean or Japanese in his unit. PW's unit is intact and under same chain of command now as it was prior to crossing the YALU River.
Parts of PW’s unit have not been integrated into Korean units.
PW stated that he did not see any guns, tanks, or HMG’s since he arrived in KOREA.

4. LOCATIONS & ACTIVITIES OF UNITS: (as of 10 Nov 50)
PW deserted his Co because the personal load of his Co Commander, which he was carrying, became too heavy.
PW states that his unit was not engaged in preparation of fortifications or other permanent defensive positions in KOREA.

5. PERSONAL & UNIT HISTORY:
Conscripted into the NCA Medical Unit in Oct 43 at ANHWEI SHENG (安微省).
Received no basic infantry or any other military training.
PW stated that between Oct 43 and March 49, he did not know where he traveled.
In March 49, 4 Nationalist soidiers, including the PW, were captured by the 40th CCF at HANKOW and were placed into the Medical Company.
Received no military or medical training.
Medical Co left HANKOW in d/u 50 by foot and arrived at ANTUNG on d/u Oct 50.
Medical Co left ANTUNG on 12 Oct 50 and crossed the YALU River. Places traveled in KOREA, unknown.
PW's unit did not participate in the HAINAN Island invasion.

6. PERSONALITIES:

There were no Soviet advisors in the CCF.

7. FOOD & AMMO SUPPLIES:
Troops brought 3 days ration with them when they crossed the YALU River. After the food was exhausted, they confiscated food from Korean farmers.
Source of ammo, food and medical supplies, unknown.

8. MORALE:
Morale in PW’s platoon was low because they were forced to come to KOREA in order to prevent the Americans from entering CHINA.

9. SIGNAL COMMUNICATION:
There was a field telephone and a messenger in the Medical Co.

10. GENERAL INFORMATION:
PW was not a volunteer for Korean service.
PW's unit did not undergo amphibious training.
PW did not know about the Iron and Steel Brigade.
There was no Japanese unit in the CCF.
PW did not know if the Chinese Communists have Militia and Public Security Units in addition to their regular troops.
PW received 10,000 Yuan per month.
PW did not know of any CCF units with Soviet equipment.
PW did not know of any paratroop training or paratroops in the CCF.
Propaganda officers taught illiterates like him Chinese characters, but PW stated that he was not able to retain much.
