2. ASSESSMENT:
Informant spoke freely.

3. MILITARY HISTORY:
26 Oct 50 - Informant was mobilized for service to repair roads for 20 days at his home in HYESANJIN (惠山鎭) with 400 others.
3 Nov 50 - Service Unit marched toward TONGHUNGJIN (東興鎭).
5 Nov 50 - Service Unit arrived at TONGHUNGJIN.
6 Nov 50 - Service Unit left TONGHUNGJIN for CHUNGGANJIN (中江鎭) on foot Informant deserted the unit 4km N of TONGHUNGJIN.
27 Nov 50 - Captured 1km S of SAMSU (三水).

4. ORGANIZATION:
Service Unit was temporary organized by the local people’s committee (地方人民委員會) right after the outbreak of the war. Men aged from 16 to 40 were inducted into NKA, and men aged from 41 to 55 were mobilized for service in order to no miscellaneous work for the period of at least 20 days a year.
There were approx 10 party members who led the groups. He never saw arms being worn by these party members, but all had approx 1 foot sword under their coats.

6. ROAD CONSTRUCTION:

3 Nov 50 at HYESANJIN, the PW heard from the committee members that this unit was to widen the 4m road to 6m. The original road was not wide enough to permit CCF trucks and carts to pass each other from CHUNGGANJIN to a point 22km SE (see sketch).
There is a road wide enough which follows the Yalu River, but the route would be shortened by this road construction.
Informant also heard that food and weapons will come in smoothly from China ofter this road is completed. He believes the weather will not disturb the traffic much duo to the drainage of the surface. Informant was told that this road construction would be completed in ten days.
On or about 5 Nov 50, at SAMSU, the informant heard from the people that CCF and NKA are nevi pushing the UN troops back, and in the near future Russia will bring troops in to aid (detail unk).
On or about 5 Nov 50, the informant saw numerous NKA Troops heading from SINGAIPAJIN towards TONGHUNGJIN in the mountains just south of YALU River. Informant heard from a villager later that these troops were going into CHINA through CHUNGANJIN.

7. PUBLIC OPINION:
Since there was no source of information for the public, the majority believed what the leaders said.
