PW appeared to be in good physical condition at time of interrogation. PW appeared to be observant but was confused on time and dates. PW was a farmer prior to being inducted into the NKA. PW surrendered after becoming separated from his unit. PW was cooperative and of average intelligence. Information obtained is considered fairly reliable. Not recommended for further interrogation. PW interrogated by 1st Cav Div, 1 PW Team, 15 Nov 50.
3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:a. Chronology:
PW inducted into the NKA 28 Sep 50 at UIJU (XE3151) and was assigned to the Field Training Center in UIJU. PW received training together with 2,700 others. PW and 151 others were assigned to the 3rd Regt, 47th Div at SINUIJU (XE2040) 9 Oct 50. PW received instructions on 45mm Gun. O/a 16 Oct 50, 3rd Regt, 47th Div moved to South SINUIJU where training was continued until 20 Oct 50. 20 Oct 50, 3rd Regt departed by train for SONCH'ON (XE6407). After remaining for three (3) days in the hills (vicinity SONCH'ON), 3rd Regt marched to KUSONG (XE9228) arriving o/a 27 Oct 50. O/a 30 Oct 50, the 3rd Regt was prepared for combat. 3rd Regt, 47th Div engaged UN elements from prepared positions on hills 1.5 km E of KUSONG o/a 31 Oct 50. After 3 hours, the 3rd Regt withdrew towards SAKCHU (XE7473) arriving o/a 2 Nov 50. The 3rd Regt regrouped. On or about 5 Nov 50, the 3rd Regt departed SAKCHU and marched towards TAECH'ON (YE1422) arriving o/a 7 Nov 50. 8 Nov 50, the 3rd Regt departed to defend a river located approx 20 km S of TAECH’ON. PW, being a non-combatant (Ox cart driver), was ordered to remain in an unk village. On 13 Nov 50, PW surrendered at the village.
b. Unit Organization and Strength:
The 47th Div consisted of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Inf Regts, and a 122mm Gun Bn. The 3rd Regt consisted of 3 Inf Bns and an Arty Unit (size unk). The 3rd Bn consisted of 3 Rifle Cos, Mortar Plat, 45mm Gun Plut, Sig Plat, AT Rifle Plat, HMG Plat, Med Plat, & Sup Plat. The 3rd Bn's strength was approx 400 and the 3rd Regt was approx 1,300.
c. Equipment:
3rd Bn had 4 - 5 mortars (size unk), 45mm Gun, and unk number of LMGs, HMGs, SMGs, & rifles. PW heard that the arty unit of the 3rd Regt was equipped with 24 arty pieces (76mm, 45mm Guns, & 120mm mortars). PW also heard that when the unit departed SINUIJU, it was equipped with 37 arty pieces but while enroute 13 were destroyed by air attacks. PW heard that 4 or 5 tanks were attached to the 3rd Regt.
d. Disposition:
PW met a member of the 2nd Regt, 47th Div at TAECHON 7 Nov 50 and was told that the 2nd Regt was located in TAECHON Area.
e. Knowledge of Other Units:
On or about 8 Nov 50, while PW's unit was marching southward from TAECHON, PW observed approx 3,000 CCF troops marching north towards TAECHON. He observed what appeared to be the same CCF unit marching south from TAECHON o/a 7 Nov 50. PW also observed 3,000 CCF troops. marching south from KUSONG o/a 28 Oct 50.

g. Morale:
Morale of PW‘s unit was low because of constant UN air attacks. PW stated that in order to elevate the morale of their unit the officers told them that the CCF troops will spearhead their attacks.
4. GENERAL:a. Food and Ammo Supplies:
Food was procured locally. Ammo was transported by trucks and ox carts. The 3rd Rsgt received additional ammo at SAKCHU after their initial supply was expended.
b. U. S. PWS:
PW heard that 7 US soldiers and one SK soldier were captured by the 3rd Bn during combat at approx 20 km S of TAECHON on 10 Nov 50. PW also heard that a large number of US soldiers was captured by a CCF unit near KUSONG o/a 30 Oct 50.
c. NK Air Force and Navy:
PW observed 27 NK Air Force personnel at South SINUIJU o/a 18 Oct 50. He heard that these men were pilots. PW also observed 2 NK Naval personnel at SINUIJU o/a 13 Oct 50.
d. Foreign advisors:
PW observed approx 10 Russians wearing civilian clothes and armed with pistols at SINUIJU o/a 13 Oct 50. PW heard that they were advisors.
