1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was in good physical condition at time of interrogation. PW was cooperative and of average intelligence. PW was a farmer prior to induction into the NK Army. Information obtained is considered fairly reliable. Not recommended for further interrogation.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology:
PW was inducted into the NKA 3 Sep 50 at CHAERYONG-GUN, HAYANG-MYON and received eight (8) days of basic training. Upon completion of training, PW was sent to HAEJU (XC 3915) and was assigned to the 105th Div as machinegunner. After remaining at HAEJU for five days, PW’s unit marched to PAKCHON (YE2201) and remained there for another five days. From PAKCHON, PW’s unit moved to a hill between KUBONG (XE9328) and TAEGWAN-DONG (XE8552). After spending several nights in the hill. PW's unit moved to SICH’ON (10 mi SF of KUSONG) and then returned to PAKCHON on 5 Nov 50, On the following day, heavy UN air attacks and arty barrage were received and PW sought shelter and later surrendered 061400 Nov 50 in vic of PAKCHON.

b. Unit Organization and Strength:
PW stated the 105th Div was composed of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Regts with 3 Bns in each Regt. PW's Bn was composed of 5 Rifle Cos, HMG Co, Mortar Co, and LMG Plat.

PW heard his Bn Comdr reporting the personnel strength of Bn as 510 men 10 Oct 50 in vic of PAKCH’ON and on 25 Oct 50 as 507 men in vic of TAEGWAN-DONG (XE8552). Loss of three men were by desertion. O/a 25 Sep 50 in vic of PAKCH’ON, PW’s Bn was reorganized by assigning approx 20 communist political members (soldiers) to each Co in order to keep the men from deserting. One political member was assigned to PW’s Squad at that time and at TAEGWAN-DONG (XE8552) o/a 25 Oct 50, the Bn was reorganized again for the same purpose and two more communist political members were added to PW's Squad. From about 20 Sep 50, the Plat Ldr followed the men to the latrine to prevent them from deserting.

c. Equipment:
The HMG Co was equipped with 12 HMGs. Sqd Ldrs were armed with Japanese rifles, and each man had one or two hand grenades. Weapons in the Mortar Co unk. The LMG Plat was equipped with 7 LMGs. The Rifle Cos had rifles, SMGs and LMGs.

d. Armor and Artillery:
PW observed 8 ox-drawn arty pieces (size unk) heading N in vic of KUSONG during the latter part of Oct 50. Seven days later, PW observed one 122mm howitzer and 2 other arty pieces (size unk), pulled by oxen, heading southward. On 5 Nov 50, PW observed 4 tanks in vic of PAKCHON.

e. Knowledge of Other Units:
During the latter part of Oct 50, PW observed many CCF troops billeted in houses in vie of KUSONG. At TAEGWAN-DONG, PW heard from his friend (who speaks Chinese) that 1,000,000 CCF troops will come to KOREA and that 4 Air Divisions will also arrive from CHINA and RUSSIA.

4. GENERAL:
a. Food and Ammo Supplies:
Food was insufficient and was procured locally. Ammo supply was sufficient and stored in the hills when the NKA retreated.

b. Replacements:
No replacements were received by PW’s unit. Wounded personnel were given necessary treatment at the front and taken along with the unit whenever possible.

c. US PWs:
Approx 15 - 20 days ago in the vic of PAKCHON, PW heard from his Co CO that many Americans were captured.

d. Foreign Advisors:
Approx one month ago, PW observed approx five Russian military advisors on trucks heading towards N at SUNAN (YD3242).
