PW learned of a Korean interpreter, in an Army uniform, in his Co at TUNGHUA (通化), Rank - unknown.
PW's unit was intact and under the same chain of command now as it was prior to crossing the YALU River.
No parts of PW’s unit have been integrated into Korean units nor Koreans into CCF units.
4. LOCATION & ACTIVITIES OF UNITS: (as of 19 Nov 50)PW's unit did not construct any elaborate defensive positions while travelling South from the YALU River.
The 3rd Bn arrived at the outskirts of TOKCHON o/a 17 Nov 50. While re&ting, ROK artillery shelled his unit. PW surrendered to tha ROK troops on 19 Nov 50.
5. PERSONAL & UNIT HISTORY:Volunteered into the Nationalist China Civilian defense unit at SHUN-I- HSIEN (hometown) in Oct 48.
1,000 personnel of this Civilian defense unit left SHUN-I-HSIEN (順義縣) in Nov 48 by foot and arrived at HOPEH SHENG, HSIANG-SHAIN (河北省 香山). After battling with the CCF, practically all the personnel were captured by the CCF 42nd Army on 16 Nov 48 at HOPEH SHENG, HSIANG-SHAN.
PW's were taken to FEN-CHIANG (分莊) by foot in Nov 48 from HSIANG-SHANG. On Jan 50, these RW's were placed into the 42nd Army at HONAN (河南). PW was placed into the 1st Co, 3rd Bn, 374th Regt, 125th Div, 42nd Army.
Underwent one month of infantry basic training at HONAN 3rd Bn left HONAN by foot and arrived at YANG-HO-CHOANG (羊河莊) in Feb 50; trained at close order drill here.
3rd Bn left YANG-HO-CHUANG by foot in May 50 and arrived at HONAN SHENG (河南城) in May 50.
Travelled within the HONAN SHENG area for 2 months but places travelled were unknown.
374th Regt, left HONAN SHENG area by train in Jul 50 and arrived at TUNG-PEH, TUNG HUA (通化) in Aug 50. Underwent combat inf training.
3rd Bn left TUNGHUA by foot on 16 Oct 50 and passed CHI-AN (輯安) and MANPOJIN, arriving at a farming village in Korea on 22 Oct 50. (Exact location unknown).
PW saw his 3rd Bn cross a steel bridge, which spans the YALU River, on 21 Oct 50.
3rd Bn left the farm village on 22 Oct 50 by foot and arrived at TOKCHON o/a 17 Nov 50. Places travelled between the farm village and TOKCHON were unknown because unit travelled only at night.
PW surrendered to RIK troops on 20 Nov 50.
PW’s unit did not participate in the HAINAN Island invasion.
6. PERSONALITIES:LI, Yum (李榮), Plat Ldr, 2nd Plat.

7. FOOD & AMMO SUPPLIES:Troops brought 2½ days ration with them when they crossed the YALU River. After these rations were consumed, food was acquired from farmers.
8. SIGNAL COMMUNICATION:Communication between battalion and company was by messengers.
9. MORALE:Morale in PW’s company was low because they were forced to come to Korea and fight. Most of them would desert if given the opportunity.
10. GENERAL INFORMATION:PW was not a volunteer for Korean service nor was his unit.
No instructions had been given to CCF soldiers to appear to be volunteers if captured.
Unit did not undergo amphibious training.
PW did not know of the Iron and Steel Brigade.
There were no Japanese units in the CCF.
Chinese Communist Forces did not have Militia and Public Security units in addition to their regular troops.
PW did not know of any CCF units with Soviet equipment.
PW received 70,000 Yuan per month.
Platoon Leader received 180,000 Yuan par month.
PW did not know of any paratroop training or paratroops in the CCF.
Culture officers taught illiterate Soldiers to write and explained newspaper reports to them.
PW stated that he did not receive any winter shoes. Reason unknown.
Bn and Co commanders slept in farm houses, while others slept in foxholes while in Korea.
