PW was cooperative. Information considered reliable.

3. TACTIAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
26 Sep 47: Volunteered at SINUIJI (新義州) and assigned to 1st Div, reassigned to supply section.
27 Nov 48: PW was sent to #1 P'YONGTANG Officers Training School where he specialized in supply.
14 Oct 59: Completed school, was commissioned a Sr Lt and assigned to the Officers Training School, supply section as a Plat Ldr.
6 Oct 50: Half of the school's instructors left P'YONGYANG for SAKCHU (胡州) vicinity of KANGTE (江界). Half of the personnel approx 200 men stayed at P'YONGYANG to activate a P'YONGYANG Defense Brigade. This Brigade was formed with the instructors of the officers training school and the students which numbered about 2,000.
18 Oct 50: The Brigade was attacked by UN forces. Unit was dispersed.
20 Oct 50: PW captured at P'YONGYANG.

Unit History:
This officers training school is believed to have been activated at YONGANG Gun (龍岡郡) o/a Mar 46. Moved to P'YONGYANG o/a Oct 48. The training cycle during peace time was about 1 yr and it produced about 1,200 officers yearly. After the outbreak of hostilities, due to shortage of officers, the cycle was reduced to one months training.
During Aug 50 there were about 3,000 students.

4. GENERAL INFORMATION:
Duties of Various Sections and Personnel within P'yongyang OTS:
Commandant: Responsible for the over-all supervision of the school.
Executive Officer: Responsible to the commandant for the over-all supervision of the school.
Supply Staff Officer: Responsible to the commandant for the over-all supervision in regards to supply matters.
Food Section Officer (Maj): Responsible for food procurement, destribution and responsible for the efficient operation of mess halls.
Clothing Section Officer (Maj): Responsible for the procurement and distribution of clothing.
Construction Section Officer (Maj): Responsible for the procurement of construction and repairing material as well as construction and repairing of facilities.
Finance Section Officer: Responsible for the payment of the faculty as well as students.
Personnel Section Officer: Responsible for the classification of each individual student as to their capabilities. This office sends a recommendation of commission to the school commandant.
Cultural Staff Officer: Responsible to the commandant for the over-all supervision of all political matters.
Arty Staff Officer: Responsible to the commandant for the over-all supervision in regards to Arty matters.
Administration Office: Directly responsible for the training of each individual in training units.
Keeps a complete file of each individual that enters school. Spot checks each training unit for the standards of training. Controls the instructors of each of the following sections.
Communication Instruction Section: One section chief, nine instructors. Responsible for the proper teaching of communication methods.
Tactical Instruction Section: One section chief, 19 instructors. Responsible for the proper teaching of tactical operations.
Firing Instructors Section: One section chief and 19 instructors. Responsible for the proper firing and tactical use of infantry weapons only.
Engineer Instructors Section: One section chief and 7 instructors. Responsible for the teaching of all matters concerning engineers.
Arty Instruction Section: One section chief, 14 instructors. Responsible for the tactical arty fire and methods of firing.
Topographic Instructors Section: One section chief, 3 instructors. Responsible for the teaching of all matters pertaining to topography.
Social Science Instructors Section: One section chief and 19 instructors. Responsible for the teaching of political matters and propaganda.
Supply Instructors Section: One section chief, and 5 instructors. Responsible for the teaching of all supply matter.
Administration Section is directly responsible for the administration of each training unit and their commanders.
Social Science Officer: Directly responsible to the commandant for the supervision of all matters concerning social science.
Communication Officer: Directly responsible to the commandant for the supervision of communication matters.
Tactical and Operation Officer: Directly responsible to the commandant for the supervision of all tactical operations.
Firing Officer: Directly responsible to the commandant for the supervision of all matters in regards to firing.

Training Units:
Infantry Training Unit (as of Jun 59):
7 companies were organized with 150 students to a company.
Arty Training Unit:
4 companies - 60 students to a company.
Engineer Training Unit:
2 companies - 60 students to a company.
Communication Training Unit:
2 companies - 140 students to a company.
Supply Training Unit:
1 company - 140 students.
All company commanders and plat ldrs of each training unit were commissioned officers. Students were appointed as plat and sqd ldrs only.
