PW claims to have been an anti-communist and refused to join the army up to time he was ordered to report to PYONGYANG and informed that he was in the army. Cooperative and spoke freely. Reliability of information is good.
MILITARY HISTORY:3 Sep 50 - Approx 100 veterinarians from all NK provinces called into PYONGYANG and drafted into army. Appointed Sr Capt.
18 Sep 50 - 9 Vet officers assigned to 41st Div and departed PYONGYANG.
3 Oct 50 - Arr. NANAM. Joined 41st Div, 2nd Regt at YONGCHON RI (龍泉里) located between NANAM and CHONGJIN.
15 Oct 50 - 2nd Regt moved to SUSONG MYON, KUNDON RI (輸城面 共洞里), NW of CHONGJIN. 1st Regt was located 4 Kms S of NANAM. 3rd Regt organized o/a 15 Oct 50 and moved into the area vacated by the 2nd Regt.
1 Nov 50 - 2nd Regt moved to KYONGSONG GUN, CHUUL MYON, SAENGGI RI (上地里). 3rd Regt moved into KUNDON RI, and 1st Regt moved to CHONGJIN.
1 Nov 50 - 2nd Regt moved to KYONGSONG GUN, CHUNAM MYON, TUNAM RI (斗南里). Movements of 1st and 3rd Regts thereafter, unknown.
11 Nov 50 - 2nd Regt moved to KYONGSONG GUN, CHUNAM MYON, TAEMUN RI (大門里). Regt'l Hqs remained at TAEMUN RI while 1st and 3rd Bns went to CHUNAM MYON, YONGAM DONG (龍巖洞). 2nd Bn and 3 gun Cos (see org) went to HOEMUN (會文).
12 Nov 50 - Regt'l Hqs moved to YONGAM DONG. 1st and 3rd Bns dug in for defensive stand; enemy engaged.
16 Nov 50 - 2nd Bn, 3rd Regt arrived as reinforcement. Vets were used as medical aid men.
19 Nov 50 - Surrounded by UN troops and captured.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:Estimated casualties of the 1st and 3rd Bns, 2nd Regt and 2nd Bn, 3rd Regt, during engagement at YONGAM DONG are as follows: over 500 wounded; 500 KIA or deserted; 500 retreated to rear.
The wounded were evacuated by trucks and ox-carts at night to the 41st Div Hospital at SONGMAK (城幕) and to the 507th Field Hospital at CHUNAM (朱南).
No epidemics or illness caused by the cold weather.
Observed one Russian officer (Lt Col; 2 stripes and 2 stars) at 41st Div Hqs o/a 14 Oct 50.
