PW deserted his unit approx 11 days ago. PW appeared to be in good physical condition at time of interrogation. PW was a street peddler until the age of 22 and prior to entering the army he was engaged in farming for approx 4 yrs. PW was cooperative and of average intelligence. Interrogation was conducted thru a Korean interpreter who has knowledge of Chinese, and evaluation of information obtained should be assessed accordingly. Recommended for further interrogation.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:a. Chronology.
PW was inducted into the Chinese Nationalist Army at SONYANGSU Mar 48. Captured by the CCF at KWANGSHI Nov 49 and assigned to the TIENJIN Army, 2nd Div, 37th Regt, 3rd Bn, 7th Co, at NANLING, KWANSHI Province. Unit departed NANLING by train in Dec 49 and arrived at PEIFHUNG, 7 days later. Unit remained at this location for approx 10 days then departed by train and arrived in YENLING, HUNAN Province, 9 days later. The unit remained at this location for approx seven months during which time the 2nd Div was engaged in constructing a canal, cultivating farm land and receiving communist indoctrination. In the latter part of July, the unit moved to HAICHUNG, where it was stationed for approx two months, receiving mountain training. The unit departed HAICHUNG on 25 Oct 50, by train, (approx 40 box cars loaded with troops) and arrived at ANTUNG, via MUKDEN 28 Oct 50. The unit remained in ANTUNG for a day and crossed the YALU River 30 Oct 50. 1 Nov 50, PW deserted and voluntarily surrendered 13 Nov in the vicinity of PAKCHON.
b. Unit Organization and Strength.
The TUNGHWA Army consists of the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd Inf Divs and an AA Unit (size unk).
2nd Div consists of the 36th, 37th, & 38th Regts.
Strength of Army, Div, Regt, & Bn unk to PW.
37th Regt consists of 3 Inf Bns, 50mm Mortar Co, and the HW Co. 3rd Bn consists of 3 Rifle Cos (7th, 8th, & 9th). The 7th Co consists of 3 rifle plats. Strength of 7th Co is approx 150 men.
c. Equipment.
PW did not observe any tanks or artillery since crossing the border. PW observed 6x50mm Mortars and 4 HMGs in his unit since crossing the border.
