2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was hesitant and vague and claimed he was an officer only in name and did not know the workings in his dept. Reliability-doubtful.

3. TACTIAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
20 Aug 50: Volunteered into Navy and sent to 594 Unit at CHINNAMPO. Ensign in the Food Planning Section.
15 Oct 50: Became Lt (Jg)
22 Oct 50: Unit started to withdraw southward towards ANJU (YD 2989). PW deserted at SOGAM (YD 2648) and was captured.

Unit Organization and Strength:
594 Unit
Staff Section: Operations Section; Rear Service Section; Culture Section.
Staff Section composed of - Tactical and Communication Sections.
Operations Section controls the fleet and allied field units.
Rear Service Section composed of Finance; Communication; Construction; Clothing and Food Sections.
Squadron composed of - The CHINNAMPO - 1500 ton; #51 - 700 ton; #52 - 500 ton; #101 - 200 ton and #19 (wooden) - 100 ton.
All above except #101 and #19 were destroyed or disappeared at sea. Present (22 Oct 1950) disposition of the last two unknown.
Food Section - 6 men and 3 officers. Section Chief - 1 officer; Planning Section - 1 officer and 1 NCO; Storage section - 1 officer and 2 NCOs.

4. GENERAL INFORMATION:
Food Section:
The food section makes an estimate of how much food would be needed for the unit (for two weeks ahead). The estimate is sent to the Head Clerk in the Rear Service Section who then pass it on to the Peoples Committee in CHINNAMPO with an order to fill it.
On the appointed day, the 3 trucks from the section are dispatched along with ox-carts furnished by the peoples committee, bring back the food for the two weeks. The requisitions are always filled.
The ration breakdown is done by the Storage Section once a week on an appointed day when each unit receives their weekly ration. The request for rations from each section must be in a week before receiving it unless an unusually large increase or decrease or decrease is noted.
Rations for 1200 men were drawn.
