PW was not too cooperative, hesitated in answering some questions and had to think a long time before answering. Had very limited information. However, special EEI considered fairly reliable.
3. CHRONOLOGY:- Born in WONHUNG-Ni (元興里) KOREA.
- Attended 6 yrs of Elementary School at SHANYUANPO (三源浦) MANCHURIA.
Nov 46 - Jun 48 - Attended the LIENHA Middle School at LINCHIANG (臨江) MANCHURIA.
Jun 48 - Forced into the Army with 50 other men who were attending the LIENHA Middle School (聠合中学校). Entered the army at TUNGTUNG (東要) MANCHURIA. Assigned to the Independent 4th Div.
Jun 48 - Dec 48 - Engaged in combat against the Chinese Nationalist Army.
28 Dec 48 - Entire Independent 4th Div arrived at MUKDEN (奉天) MANCHURIA. Redesignated the 166th Div.
Dec 48 - Jul 49 - Assigned as a messenger in the 166th Div.
Jul 49 - Arrived at SINUIJU (新義州) KOREA.
Jul 49 - Jun 50 - Went on maneuvers in SINUIJU (新義州) KOREA.
4. FORMER CCF UNIT:Former Independent 4th Div and Later the 166th Div.
a. Company consisted of: 4 officers and 120 EM divided into 3 platoons. Armed with rifles, knee mortars, and light machine guns.
b. Battalion consisted of: 600 EM - 2 platoons of heavy machine guns and three 60 mm mortars. Divided into 4 companies.
c. Regiment consisted of: one 81 mm mortar company (6 mortars), one signal communication platoon, one supply platoon, one medical company, one administration platoon and 3 Inf Bns.
d. Divison consisted of: one signal communication company, one liaison company, one artillery battalion, one medical company, one supply company plus 3 Inf Regts.
5. LOCATION OF UNIT AT TIME OF DEPARTURE FOR KOREA:The 166th Division was in MUKDEN (奉天) before it left for KOREA.
6. UNIT COMPLEMENT TRANSFERRED TO KOREA:Entire Div moved to KOREA since entire division was composed of Koreans.
7. PAY OF PERSONNEL:PW observed that one officer received 30,000 yuan.
8. RATIONS AND CLOTHING:PW was issued 2 sets of summer clothing and one set of winter clothing.
9. PROPAGANDA:Their propaganda slogan was: "CCF is a people's Army; therefore, they fight for the benefit of the people".
10. ATTITUDE OF CIVILIAN POPULATION:The attitude of the people in many villages was favorable toward the CCF. They gave food and shelter when the CCF marched through their villages.
