2. ASSESSMENT:PsW cooperative and spoke freely. All expressed dissatisfaction with NKA and willing gave whatever limited information they possessed.

1. 41st Div personnel consists mostly of recruits. Regts were organized as personnel were conscripted.
2. PW from Mortar Co, 1st Bn, 570 Unit states that they received no trng in firing mortars. Each mortar sqd was given a manual but no one could understand the technical terms. Mortars were fired only in the general direction without knowledge of range finding or powder charge. Met members of 3rd Bn, 570 Unit near SAMHYANG. Location of 2nd Bn, unknown. 14 Nov 50, heard that Bn Comdr was demoted for departing KUDON Ri one day late. Later, heard from political officer, Mortar Co, that he was shot.
3. Officers lead the men into combat, but, once under fire, they are the first to run away.
6. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:1. Land mines were planted along the beach between PAESU, CHONMA-SAN and CHONGJIN. As of early Nov, the men were told by the officers that the beach was off-limits.
2. 16 Nov 50, civilians (mostly women) were constructing a new road along the main road between NANAM and KYONGSONG at night. Heard from the civilians that CCF troops were coming with 70 Ton tanks.
