2. ASSESSMENT:
Seemed below average intelligence. Cooperative. Fairly Reliable.

3. MILITARY HISTORY:
19 Sep 50 - Inducted at WONSAN (元山) and assigned to the 58th Regiment, 1st Battalion, 3d Company. No military training.
21 Sep 50 - The 58th Regiment left WONSAN and arrived at YUDAMNI (遊談里) on 3 Nov 50.
4 Nov 50 - PW deserted with another and started for his home in SOKCHO (束草) (approximately 140 km NE of CHUNGJU).
16 Novd 50 - PW was captured at SANGTONG-NI (上通里) on the way home. PW heard that the 58th Regiment is going to MANCHURIA for training.

4. ORGANIZATION:
The 58th Regiment was activated at WONSAN 19 Sep 50. The 58th Regiment was composed of three battalions. Each Battalion was comprised of 4 companies. Personnel are recent conscripts.

5. STRENGTH:
Strength of the 58th Regiment when it was activated was 1800. When the unit arrived at YUDAM-NI (遊談里), the strength had decreased to two-thirds of the original because of desertions.

6. FOREIGN ELEMENT:
When the 58th Regiment arrived at YUDAM-NI, PW observed many CCF troops on foot moving South. Only one third had Japanese Rifles (model 38) and two-thirds were carrying packs on their back. No heavy weapons such as machine guns, mortars or tanks were observed. No vehicles or horses were observed. According to PW's platoon leader, approximately one division of CCF troops were coming in.
