PW was very cooperative but lacking in intelligent. PW is illiterate and incapable of carrying on an intelligent conversation.
3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Chronology:
| 3 May 50: | Inducted into the NKPA at SINUIJU (新義州). Assigned to 19th Regt, 13th Div. |
| 15 Jun 50: | Entire 13th Div departed SINUIJU by rail. The units departed SINUIJU with ration supply only. The troops were not issued ammunition. |
| o/a 20 Jun-o/a 24 Jun: | All troops issued ammunition. General preparation for war made during this period. Each unit issued 4 days ration. 242000 K Jun 50, 13th Div departed YONCH'ON following the 1st Div. |
| o/a 11 Sep 50-14 Sep: | Troops deployed on hill in defensive positions. Strength of 19th Regt approx 700 men. No land mines or barb wire entanglements laid. |
| 14 Sep 50: | 1500 hours the Regt was attacked by aircraft and at the same time artillery shells began to fall in the area. Shelling and air attack lasted until 1900 hours. Losses sustained unknown. 19th Regt withdrew immediately after attack lifted. |
| 15 Sep 50: | During withdrawal, PW became separated from his unit and was captured by Americans. |
Morale:
Morale of the troops was very low because of the lack of food and constant artillery shelling and air attacks. The troops were very difficult to control because all of the officers invariably remained to the rear of the units. The men were warned that the penalty for retreat was death.
