1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was very cooperative and information seems reliable.

3. T/O & E OF PW’S UNIT:
3rd Regiment composed of 4 Battalions; 1st Rifle Bn, 2nd Rifle Bn, 3rd Rifle En, and 4th Rifle Bn.
Each Rifle Battalion had 500 men, and consisted of five (5) companies and one AT - Rifle Platoon.
2nd Company; 120 men, armed with 12 x LMGs, 12 PPsh SMGs, 4 U/I pistols.
Mortar Company; 60 men, armed with 9 x 82 mm M-1937 Mortars.
HMG Company; 60 men, armed with 6 x MAXIM HMGs.
AT Rifle Platoon; 40 men, 4 x LMGs, 4 x PPsh SMGs and one (1) pistol.
2nd Rifle Squad; 10 men armed with one (1) LMG, one (1) PPsh SMG.
Rifleman armed with M-1891/30 rifles, 110 rounds. Ass’t squad leader armed with a LMG with two (2) magazines. Squad Leaders armed with a PPsh SMG, with two (2) magazines, one grenade. Officers armed with U/I pistols, two (2) grenades.

4. ESTIMATED STRENGTH OF ABOVE UNITS:
3rd Rifle Battalion; 60 men, one (1) HMG, two (2) ammo Boxes, two (2) 82 mm mortars, four (4) ammo boxes, three (3) LMGs.

5. PERSONAL AND UNIT HISTORY:
PW inducted on 7 Jul 50 at HAEJU (海州) and assigned to 7th Div, 3rd Regt, 3rd Bn, 2nd Co, 3rd Plt, 2nd Sqd. PW and 500 men received basic training with wooden rifles until 28 Jul 50. M-1891/30 rifles issued on 28 Jul 50. PW and his Battalion left HAEJU on 29 Jul 50 by railroad, arrived at 5 Km north of SEOUL Railroad Station d/u Aug 50. Departed SEOUL d/u Aug 50, marched, arrived SUWON d/u Aug 50 (stayed overnight). Departed SUWON d/u Aug 50, marched, arrived TAEJON d/u Aug 50 (rested 3 days). From TAEJON, PW and his Battalion departed in 15 trucks and arrived in CHINJU on 15 Aug 50 (rested 4 days). Departed CHINJU on 19 Aug 50, marched, arrived SAMCHONPO on 23 Aug 50. Departed SAMCHONPO on 24 Aug 50, marched, arrived KOSONG on 27 Aug 50. Departed KOSONG on 27 Aug 50, marched through mountains, and arrived 2 Km east of YONOE NI (1130 - 1370). Separated from his unit after machine gun firing and artillery shelling and was captured by Company "G" 35th R.C.T on 11 Sep 50, 3 Km east of YUNOE NI (1130 - 1370).

6. ARMOR:
Five (5) T-34/85 Tanks observed at 20 Km north of TAEJON (大田) in first part of Aug 50.

7. ARTILLERY:
Six (6) truck-drawn u/i artillery pieces observed at half kilometer SE of CHINJU on 19 Aug 50.

8. FOOD AND AMMO SUPPLIES:
No food delivered after they left SUWON. Received all food from farmers.
3rd Battalion used South Koreans as ammo bearers and brought approximately ten (10) ammo boxes with them from SEOUL.

9. REPLACEMENTS:
PW states that o/a 4 Sep 50 3rd Battalion received approximately 150 replacements who were inducted from CHOLLA NAMDO area.

10. ENEMY INTENTIONS:
Objective o! 7th Division was PUSAN via MASAN.

11. MORALE:
Morale of troops was low because of exhaustion and inadequate food.

12. US POW'S:
In early part of Aug 50, PW observed approximately 30 US PW guarded by 3 armed North Korean troops at SEOUL.

13. SOUTH KOREAN SENTIMENTS:
South Korean people did not welcome the North Korean Army, because they inducted all males who were fit for hard labor.
