2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was very cooperative, with limited tactical information. PW is not recommended for further interrogation. PW saw propaganda leaflets dropped by plane in his area, secretly picked up "Safe Conduct Pass" and with 3 of his companions deserted their unit and hid in the HAMAN Area for 3 days without food, waiting for UN Forces to surrender till 10 Sep 50. PW and companions sighted UN patrol in HAMAN (咸安) and with “Safe Conduct Pass” surrendered.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
PW left home urder threat of death to join the NKPA. Arrived in SEOUL 8 Jul 50. PW left SEOUL 15 Jul 50, with 500 conscripts for SUWON by rail and arrived at SUWON 18 Jul 50. Left SUWON by rail arrived P’YONGT’AEK (平澤) 27 Jul 50. Left P’YONGT’AE by rail 28 Jul 50, arrived CH'ONAN 28 Jul 50. Departed CH'ONAN 29 Jul 50, marched, arrived CHOCH’IWON (鳥致院) 29 Jul 50. Departed CHOCH’IWON 30 Jul 50, marched, arrived CHONJU (全州) 5 Aug 50. Departed CHONJU 7 Aug 50, marched, arrived NAMWON (南原) 9 Aug 50. Departed NAMWON 9 Aug 50, marched, arrived CHINJU (晉州) 11 Aug 50. PW with all 500 of the news. Korean conscripts deserted when firing was heard. They were just inducted into the army 12 Aug 50, and as yet had not received any arms.
The officer, KIM, Hyon Gu (金현구) who escorted these new S. Korean conscripts was killed by a group of eight Communist guerilla women. The officer, a former 1st Lt in the Japanese army, was too friendly with his men and news that he might go over to the UN Forces with his 500 S. Korean conscripts was the reason for his murder.
PW, after receiving "Safe Conduct Pass", induced three of his companions to surrender with him on 10 Sep 50. PW actually did not see KIM Hyon Ku killed. When PW inquired about his whereabouts he was told by female Plt ldr, and a female Capt, that KIM was killed.

Actual Battle Organization Strength:
6th Div, unknown, 15th Regt, unknown. 1st Bn unknown. 2nd Co - approx 120 men. 2nd Plt approx 35 men. 1st Sqd 11 men with 1 x DPM LMG, HMG Co, - 3 x Maxim HMG M1910
2nd Co - 2 x SMG; 60 rounds per rifle. 140 rounds per SMG. Mortar or HMG with 1st Bn prior to attack. 2 x 14.5-mm PTRS-31

Last Known Composition of Unit and Equipment:
1st Sqd, 2nd Plt - 7 killed. 2 x 120-mm Mortars M1943 damaged.
2nd Plt - PW saw 3 killed and approx 20 wounded.
2nd Co - 2/3 were either killed, wounded or deserted.
PW also saw 4 boats on trucks prior to his capture. PW claims each boat could carry approx 20 men.
Each Co has a UNA F-31 Field phone.

Disposition and Unit History:
PW claims that troops found with "Safe Conduct Pass" on their person were shot on the spot.

Intentions:
Unit objective - MASAN (馬山) then CHINHAE (鎭海)

Morale and Propaganda:
Morale high among troops conscripted about the 38° Parallel. Those below 38° Parallel, very low. Food situation very critical.

4. GENERAL:
PW heard that new uniforms were being made in SEOUL. However, PW does not know whether they are summer or winter uniforms.
100 Won NK money brings 1,000 Won SK money in SEOUL.
