2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was unobservant. He was in the 2nd Div for only one day.

3. T/O & E OF PW’S UNIT:
When PW was inducted, he heard he was in the 5th Regt (number of personnel unk).
There were three (3) Bn’s in this Regt (4th, 5th & 6th Bns - approx 500 recruits).
PW heard that there were 12 companies - number of personnel unk.
PW was in the HMG Co, 49 recruits & 25 officers. There was one training HMG in his company.
There were three (3) plts in HMG Co: 16 men each.
Four (4) sqds in one (1) plt - 6 men each.
They did not carry any weapon except the training HMG.
On 10 Sep 50, this 5th Regt was placed into the 2nd Div at YONGJI RI and the 5th Regt was changed into 6th Regt.
PW was placed into the 2nd Div, 6th Regt, 2nd Bn, 4th Co, 1st Plt, 2nd Sqd.
Believed two (2) Plts in 4th Co.
Believed two (2) sqds in a Plt: 10 men each.
PW received his weapon on 10 Sep 50 when he was assigned to the 2nd Div.
PW stated there were three (3) or four (4) SMG & one (1) DP LMG in his company, rounds unknown. All others carried M1891/30 rifles, 7 to 20 rounds of ammo, one (1) grenade each.

4. ESTIMATED STRENGTH OF ABOVE UNITS:
PW believed there were only 300 men left in his 2nd Bn.

5. PERSONAL & UNIT HISTORY:
Inducted 30 Jul 50 at NANAM.
Received one (1) week of basic Inf & HMG training.
Departed - NANAM - 7 Aug 50 - RR - arrived - TAEJON - ? Sep 50.
Departed - TAEJON - ? Sep 50 - marched - arrived - HYOPCHON - 9 Sep 50.
Departed - HYOPCHON - 10 Sep 50 - marched - arrived - YONGJI RI - 10 Sep 50.
Captured by American 23rd Regt.

6. MORALE:
The morale of the recruits was low because, although they were called volunteers, they were actually forced into the Army.
It seems that the Home Ministry orders the manager of a Corporation or the headman of any enterprise, to send 20 men to the Army. If the manager does not do so, he is punished.
PW stated that, in his opinion, if the South Koreans sent more leaflets to his unit, they would give up easily because they have no weapons.
