PW had a light head wound. PW was not too intelligent and not very cooperative.
PW was left behind when his unit retreated from Hill 507, 24 km N of T'AEGU. Further interrogation not recommended.
3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Chronology:
O/a 25 Jul 50 - All young men from 16 to 35 were ordered to assemble at the Democratic Youth Association Hall of village. They received a half hour lecture and were ordered to organize a home defense unit.
26-30 Jul 50 - Received 5 days basic training in 30 men groups at village school ground.
31 Jul 50 - Departed from village by train with 500 men, no arms. They were not assigned to any unit as yet. Arrived SUWON (水原) 15 Aug 50. Departed same night on foot.
O/a 27 Aug 50 - Arrived CH'UNGJU (忠州).
1 Sep 50 - Arrived SANGJU (尙州). Departed on foot, arrived at Hill 507 located 24 km N of T'AEGU, 5 Sep 50. Attacked by 4 US aircraft. Approx 50 casualties, After 5 days rest assigned to 13th Div, 19th Regt, 1st Bn, 3rd Co, 2nd Plt, 2nd Sqd on 9 Sep 50.
Received 4 hand grenades but no rifle. Ordered to dig in and stayed 5 days in fox hole until left behind with 9 men, when unit retreated. Wounded by hand grenade and surrendered with the 9 men when they realized that they were helpless.
Unit Organization and Strength:
Actual battle organization and strength - There were only 100 men in 1st Bn, 19th Regt. As of 9 Sep 50, when PW and 30 others were assigned as replacements.
Approx 30 men in 3rd Co.
Approx 10 men in Plt.
5 men in 2nd Sqd.
Organization of units were unknown. Last composition of unit, unknown.
Equipment:
No equipment other than HMG, LMG, MS M1891/30 rifles and hand grenades were observed. Number, unknown.

Morale and Propaganda:
Morale of unit was quite low due to fatigue, lack of food and arms. Also heavy artillery and aircraft attacks.
No leaflets observed. Troops were told that they would be killed if captured, therefore, they must fight to the death. PW believed this and made up his mind to kill all UN soldiers before they could get a chance to kill him. He also stated that he does not care if he is killed now, after being captured.
