Mortar company composed of three (3) platoons. Each platoon had average of 25 men, armed with 3 x 82 mm mortars.
The mortar platoons composed of three (3) squads. Each squad had 8 men, armed with one (1) 82 am mortar with 6 rounds.
4. PERSONAL & UNIT HISTORY:PW was inducted on 28 Aug 50 at YOSU. PW and 28 replacement departed YOSU without taking any military training on 31 Aug 50, rode fishing boat, arriving HADONG on 3 Sep 50.
Departed HADONG on 3 Sep 50, marched, arrived CHINJU on 4 Sep 50. There, PW and 28 men were assigned to Mortar Co, 1st Bn, 2nd Regt, 7th Division was an ammo bearer. PW and his company advanced to HAMAN. There, PW deserted because the battle front was getting closer and closer and he didn't feel like fighting against ROK. PW was captured by Co, “D,” 3rd Bn, 35th R.C.T.
5. FOOD AND AMMO SUPPLIES:PW received average of one rice ball a day. All food was confiscated fran farmers.
Ammunition was carried by ammo bearers who were replacements inducted from South KOREA.
6. ENEMY INTENTIONS:Objective of 7th Division was PUSAN via MASAN.
7. SOUTH KOREAN SENTIMENTS:South Korean people especially males between 18 to 30 who are subject to induction in the People’s Army do not welcome the North Korean Army.
