PERSONAL & UNIT HISTORY:
Inducted 28 Sep 47 at PYONGYANG. Trained at the Engr School in PYONGYANG until May 48. Transferred to 3rd Ind Rifle Brigade in HAMHUNG. During Aug 49 the 3rd Brigade was redesignated 3rd Rifle Div.
PW was transferred to 15th Div in HOERYONG during March 50.
While travelling to YONGCHON from HOERYONG, the following places were passed:

Retreated from YONGCHON to a point 2 Km N of YONGCHON where PW was captured on 12 Sep 50 by ROK Force.

ARMOR:
10 x T-37/85 observed at KUNWI on 24 Aug 50.
7 x SU-76 observed at KUNWI on 24 Aug 50.

ARTILLERY:
3 x 76mm Field Guns observed at YONGCHON on 11 Sep 50.

FOOD AND AMMO SUPPLIES:
Food was transported by trucks to the regt.
It was generally insufficient, and men had only one meal daily.
Ammo was transported by trucks to the regt. Supply point was usually located along the road. Ammo was generally insufficient.

REPLACEMENTS:
Approx 300 men joined the 48th Regt on or about 25 Aug 50.
If separated from parent unit the men must search until they locate their own unit.
They were never permitted to join other units.

ENEMY INTENTIONS:
The objective of the 15th Div was PUSAN via KYONGJU.
Rumored that CCF will aid NK Army.

MORALE:
Morale of the men was very high because of the rapid advance of the NK Army.

KNOWLEDGE OF OTHER UNITS:
12th Div was located on the E flank of 15th Div.

CAPTURED EQUIPMENT:
Due to shortage of arms, US M1 Rifles and caroines were widely used.

SK SENTIMENTS:
Numerous S Koreans in captured areas were being swayed toward communism.

MEDICAL:
Informant estimates that approx 10% of men in N Korean Army have malaria.
