2. ASSESSMENT:
Intelligent and very cooperative. Further interrogation is not recommended.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Inducted 28 Jul 50 at SINUIJU (新義州). PW received basic training 28 Jul to 2 Aug 50 at SINUIJU Technical College approx 2 km NE of SINUIJU Railroad Station. The afternoon of 3 Aug 50 at SINUIJU Technical College (新義州 機械專門學校). 45 men were assigned to AA Plt. The 45 men were selected from over 2,000 men at SINUIJU technical College and went to KANG BYON Station. 031900 Aug 50 2,700 men were assembled at SINUIJU Station (新義州 江岸駅) and organized as 73rd Regt. At SINUIJU KNG BYON Station 2,700 men were leaded into approx 30 passenger and freight cars.
Departed SINUIJU Station 032000 Aug 50. Departed WONJU 14 Aug 50 - marched via YONGJU (英州), ANDONG, UISONG, KUSAN DONG (九山洞) (73rd Ind Regt Hq) arrived TUSANG DONG (두산동) on 30 Aug 50. Departed TUSANG DONG (두산동) arrived CH'ONGSONG 2 Sep 50. Departed CH'ONGSONG 2 Sep 50 - arrived 12 km N of CHACH'ON DONG (1180-1460) at 3 Sep 50. Also 73rd Ind Regt Hq arrived 4 Sep 50. Except plt ldr AA plt (45 men) were transferred to reconnaissance platoon. Reason for transfer was original reconnaissance plt had been wiped out the morning of 4 Sep 50. Reconnaissance plt was directly attached to 73rd Ind Regt Hq. 73rd Ind Regt Hq left 12 km N of CHACH’ON DONG 060800 Sep 50 and reached CHACH’ON DN 062000 Sep 50. PW last saw 73rd In Regt Hq at 100400 Sep 50 at CHACH’ON DONG. PW departed Hq and went south for reconnaissance mission and was captured by ROK unit 2 km S of CHACH’ON DONG.

Personalities:
AA Plt ldr: CH'OE Chun Hak (崔준학), Jr Lt. age 26.

Artillery:
PW saw 3 x 45mm M1942 AT guns and 5 x 120mm mortars both sides of the bridge in CHACHON DONG 9 Sep 50.

Weapons and personnel:
73rd Ind Regt 2,700, AA Plt 45 men, 6th Sqd 7 men. Antiaircraft plt armed with 30 x M1944 carbine, 6 x PPsh M1941 SMG. Plt received approx 500 rounds of ammunition, 1 x MAXIM HMG and one box ammunition SARIWON on 6 Aug. 160 rounds ammunition for PPsh M1941 SMG at KUSAN DONG (九山洞). Plt received 18 x hand grenades. 30 rounds of ammunition per rifle.

Communications:
PW observed 7 x UNA F-31 field telephones at the 73rd Ind Regt Hq at CHACH'ON DONG on 8 Sep 50. 3 phones were running to a rear unit. PW was not able to tell what unit these phones ran to. 4 phones were connected to forward positions, PW thinks they were connected to some battalions. PW never saw radio equipment in Regt Hq.

Intentions:
Objective of 73rd Ind Regt was YONGCH’ON.

Supplies:
73rd Ind Regt had enough food and ammunition because of their many casualties.

Morale:
Low because troops were not trained for combat. PW saw leaflets at CHACH'ON DONG 3 Sep 50. PW believed leaflets but never had a chance to surrender because in NKPA if you try to desert you will be shot in the back.

4. GENERAL:
PW saw approximately 35 US soldiers at UISONG (義城) in the latter part of Aug. These PsW were loaded on two (2) trucks.
