2. ASSESSMENT:
PW did not seem to be very intelligent. He frequently made contradictory statements; information is not reliable. No further interrogation recommended.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
5 Aug 50 - PW was conscripted into the NKPA att KWANGJU. Received no training and departed KWANGJU with the 7th Div.
17 Aug 50 - 7th Div arrived in the T’AEGU Area. 3rd Regt held a position between HAMAN and MASAN. Upon arrival at 7th Div position, PW and 160 men, who were conscripted at KWANGJU, finally received rifles.
15 Sep 50 - PW’s Plt (13 men) was captured in the MASAN Area. His unit had never participated in any action.

Unit Organization and strength:
Original strength of the 3rd Bn of the 3rd Regt was 1,000. At MASAN, 200 men of the 3rd Bn departed for an unknown destination. It was rumored that they left for PUSAN. Strength of the 3rd Regt was abut 100, when the PW was captured.

Equipment:
The 3rd Regt had 6 x 76-mm M1942 Guns and 14.5-mm PTRS-41 AT Rifles.

Disposition:
About 1,000 men of an unknown unit of NKPA were concentrated at a point 30 km N of MASAN. This unit was observed on 9 Sep 50, while PW was moving toward MASAN. No vehicles observed.

Morale and propaganda:
Morale of PW’s unit very low due to lack of food supply and fear of frequent air attacks. US Propaganda Leaflets were very effective. Whoever read them wanted to surrender, while those who never read the leaflets feared surrendering thinking that they might be shot.
