2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was cooperative but not intelligent. His information is not very reliable.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
7 Mar 50 - PW was inducted at HOERYONG (會寧) Youth Training Center. PW received basic training for 2 months. Basic training consisted of close order drill, platoon tactics, political training and fired 6 rounds with M1891-30 rifle.
PW was attached to 4th Sqd, 2nd Plt, 8th Co, 3rd Bn, 50th Regt, 15th Div, after basic training.
24 Jun 50 - The 50th Regt departed HOERYONG by train.
O/a 29 Jun 50 - The 50th Regt reached CH’ORWON (鐵原). Departed next day.
D/u Aug 50 - The 50th Regt reached UISONG (義城) via CH’UNCH’ON (春川) and WONJU (原州). Departed UISONG same day.
D/u Aug 50 - 5 Sep 50 - PW stated that he remembered when the 50th Regt crossed the NAKTONG River and 50th Regt crossed the NAKTONG River and encountered ROK troops. The battle lasted one day and the ROK troops withdrew. PW heard from his battalion CO that 1/3 of the 50th Regt was killed or wounded in this battle.
The 50th Regt received S. Korean replacements (2 mem per sqd) after this battle. The 50th Regt marched back towards the east.
6 Sep 50 - The 50th Regt and the Arty Regt of the 15th Div entered YONGCH’ON (永川). The troops were scattered in the city of YONGCH'ON after heavy artillery shelling and aircraft strafing by the UN Forces.
8 Sep 50 - PW and 4 others were wounded. PW was wounded in his left hip. PW and 4 others were taken to a shack which was located in the outskirt of YONGCH’ON, where they were left for 3 days.
11 Sep 50 - PW and 4 others were discovered by the ROK troops.

Original Strength: 50th Regt - 3 rifle battalions, Mortar Co, SMG Co, Medical Co, Supply Co, Sign Co.
Rifle Bn - 3 rifle Co’s, HMG Co.
Rifle Co - 3 rifle plts and HMG plt (2 x HMG's, 12 x LMG’s in Co. No SMG's. Riflemen armed with M1891/30 rifles. 155 men in Co)

Last Known Strength (as of 6 Sep 50):
PW estimated that approx 150-200 men remained in the 3rd Bn 50th Regt.

Artillery:
PW observed 15 x 122-mm Howitzers being towed by truck at YONGCH’ON 7 Sep 50. PW later heard from a ROK troop those howitzers were captured by the ROK troops.

Intention:
PW heard from his Co CO that the objective of the 50th Regt was KYONGJU.
