Personalities:
Unknown

Morale:
PW’s morale was low ever since induction due to forced conscription, inadequate training, poor food, and excessive fatigue. After observing his fellow soldiers killed or wounded, he had no desire to continue fighting. When PW left home on 30 Jul 50, his older brother told him to surrender to UN soldiers at the first opportunity.

Propaganda Leaflets:
2 x L-5 planes dropped leaflets in SACH'ON on 9 Sep 50. One plane circled around the village and the other went toward the hills. The leaflets were ‘Safe Conduct Passes’. When PW surrendered he handed his to a American Negro soldier. It was his first glimpse of one and he was treated humanely. PW feels that great number of NKPA soldiers would surrender if there is a way to show the NKPA soldiers how the PsW are treated by the UN Forces here in PW camp and convince them that all the propaganda they have been hearing in North KOREA was false.
PW suggested that ROK soldiers be made to treat the PsW as the American soldiers do. Most all the PsW when captured are manhandled and cursed by ROK soldiers.
