1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

DATE & PLACE CAPTURED: 111100 Sep 50 near CRANGNYONG by US troops.

2. ASSESSMENT:
Very cooperative and info seems reliable. Limited info due to short military service.

3. ESTIMATED STRENGTH OF PW's UNIT: (11 Sep 50)
Approx 1200 troops in the 2nd Division of whom approx 800 are South Korean conscripts.

4. PERSONAL & UNIT HISTORY:
Conscripted on 30 Aug 50 in Political Labor Group (政治 工作隊) and with 58 others from OKCHON departed for POUN. At POUN, they joined a group of approx 1,500 and marched South through KUMCHON, KOCHANG, HYOPCHON and crossed the NAKTONG River East of HYOPCHON on 8 Sep 50.
On 9 Sep 50, informant and 50 others were assigned to the 2nd Div,
Informant was never issued any arms.

5. ARMOR:
3 x T-34/85 tanks were observed in HYOPCHON on 8 Sep 50.

6. FOOD & AMID SUPPLIES:
Food was looted from abandoned houses.
Ammo was observed frequently placed in ditches along the road.
Not more than one truckload was placed at any one place.

7. REPLACEMENTS;
50 South Koreans were assigned to 2nd Div as replacements on 9 Sep 50.

8. MORALE:
Morale of troops was very low due to UN air strikes and meager food supply.

9. CAPTURED EQUIPMENT:
US M-1 rifles were widely used by North Korean troops.

10. MISCELLANEOUS:
A large platoon (capacity one tank or 200 men) pulled by handoperated winch was being used for transport across the NAKTONG River at a place 3 Km North of a destroyed bridge E of HYOPCHON. This boat was operated only at night. During daylight it is believed to be hidden.
