1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
Fairly cooperative, but lacks information due to short military service.

3. T/O & E OF PW’S UNIT:
Rifle platoon was composed of 4 sqds a total of 45 men; arms included 4 x SMGs (one 71 rds drum per SMG), 35 rifles (30 rds per rifle), and 2 hand grenades per man.

4. DISPOSITION OF ABOVE UNITS: (2 Sep 50)
4th Div Hq was located in a bamboo forest approx 10 Km N of the ferry point E of CHOGYE.
Approx 1200 troops of the 4th Div crossed the NAKTONG River on 052400 K Sep 50 and, on 7 Sep, attacked toward CHONGNYANG from the southwest.

5. ESTIMATED STRENGTH OF ABOVE UNITS:
Approx 40 men were left in the PW's platoon on 7 Sep 50.

6. PERSONALITIES:
1st Plt, 8th Co, 3rd Bn, 5th Regt. CO: Jr Lt. CHO Chong Yol (趙正烈).

7. PERSONAL AND UNIT HISTORY:
Inducted 8 Aug 50 at CHINNAPO. Informant and 2,000 others departed CHINNAMPO on 16 Aug 50 and traveled through SEOUL, TAEJON, to a point 10 Km N of the ferry point E of CHOGYE, arriving on 2 Sep 50. Informant and 846 men joined the 4th Div on 2 Sep 50.
4th Div crossed the NAKTONG River on 5 Sep 50 and attacked toward CHANGNYONG. On 7 Sep 50, informant and four others tried to run away from their unit. They were shot at by NK Troops, but informant escaped and surrendered to US Forces.

8. ARMOR:
13 x T-34/85 observed on West. bank of NAKTONG River on l Sep 50. (Exact location unknown)
4 x T-34/85 observed moving toward CHANGNYONG from SW on 6 Sep 50. (Heard that these tanks were later destroyed by US air strikes)

9. ARTILLERY:
10x Arty pieces drawn by trucks observed on East bank of NAKTONG River near the ferry point E of CHOGYE, 6 Sep 50.

10. FOOD & AMMO SUPPLIES:
No incoming rood supply. Troops were living off the land. Ammo was said to be very low.

11. REPLACEMENTS:
846 N Koreans from CHINNAMPO and approx 400 S Korean conscripts joined the 4th Div on 2 Sep 50 as replacements.

12. ENEMY INTENTIONS:
Objective of 4th Div was said to be CHANGNYONG.

13. MORALE:
Morale was very low due to meager food supply.

14. OTHER UNITS:
9th Div was fighting to the South of 4th Div but it was rumored that they later retreated.

15. CAPTURED EQUIPMENT:
Due to shortage of arms, troops were using US M-1 rifles and carbines.

16. US POW'S:
Observed approx 80 US PWs marching into SEOUL on 22 Aug 50.
