500 men left SEOUL and came down as far as CHINJU as Km Unit. KIM Hyon Gu (金형구) was the unit commander. About 37 years old. KIM Hyon Gu was killed in CHONGJU by his own men. He was under suspicion of being on friendly terms with the South Korean Army. From CHONGJU to CHINJU the unit was called the SO Unit (SO PUTAE 西部隊) and was attached to the 6th Div.

Rifles were issued in CHINJU to 300 men.
Morale:
Morale was very low from the start due to lack of training equipment, and forced conscription. No leaflets seen by PW. 13th Regt, 1st Bn lost about 2/3 of its original strength. Only 1/3 of 13th Regt bad weapons.
Actual battle strength:
13th Regt - approximately 1,000 men.
Disposition of unit:
13th Regt, 6th Div was in HAMAN on 1 Sep 50.
Communication:
UNA F-31 field telephones.
Intentions:
When the "SO Unit" was attached to 6th Div at CHINJU the objective was MASAN.
