3. NARRATIVE:His father was a member of the North Korean Democratic Party, therefore, his family was always threatened by the Communists. After US Forces occupied TAECHON Gun o/a 30 Oct 50, his father became the chief member of the TAECHON Gun, TONG MYON Public Security Group. This group consisted of 20 men. His father was patriotic, and he maintained civil order in his village. After 5 days, the US Forces were forced to withdraw. As soon as the US Forces left the CCF entered the village 5 Nov 50. The informant’s family could not escape nor could the other Korean patriots.
The night of 5 Nov 50, & group of 50 men, members of the North Korean Labor Party, North Korean Police, and CCF troops, began to apprehend all the members of Public Security Group and their families, and all anti-communists. A group of 300 men who were captured by these Communists, including the informant’s family, was brought to the TONG MYON Police Branch Station. There, all were tied with their hands behind their backs and were taken to the bank of the TAERYONG River, which is 2 km west of TONG MYON. There, the Communists shot all of them with their hands tied. While the Communists were firing, the informant jumped into the river and dived deeply. Although the Communists shot into the water, they couldn’t hit him.
After they were gone, the informant fled from his village in utter despair. His father, mother, 3 brothers and an 8 yr old sister were killed in the massacre. Even men, 70 years old and 1 year old babies were killed. When the informant left his village, he observed that his house and other houses were aflame.
He heard at the Police Station that the Communist were going to kill all who were against them. He heard that they had killed many Anti-Communists in other villages.
The informant escaped to PYONGYANG and deliberately went to the PW Camp because he has no relatives who can care for him. He voluntarily presented himself at the camp, seeking refuge.
