Intention:
1 Marine element was to defend CHINNAMP’O in the case of enemy landings. This was called the 3rd Front Line. PW’s unit (746th) took positions 20 km south of P’YONGYANG to meet advancing enemy forces. This was the 2nd Front Line. The P’YONGYANG Defense Unit: took positions south of the TAEDONG River (大同江) to reinforce the 746th Unit. If the 3rd or 2nd lines are pierced both units are to pull back and join the 1st line and protect the city to the lest man. However when UN Forces neared P’YONGYANG all Defense Units scattered.
