a. Evaluation: PW was cooperative in answering questions and information seems to be reliable.

PW heard from his friend that the main duty of 571 Unit was to guard Gen CHE Yong Gun (35) (Advisor to KIM Il Sung). This General was killed by KIM Il Sung when they were retreating north from P’YONGYANG, because the General did not want to fight on or about 15 Oct 50.
1st Bn consisting of 170 men (only half of then were armed with rifles) scattered at SARIWON vicinity (125 45 - 38 30') on or about 6 Oct 50, because of heavy attack by ROKA, but they were told to reorganized at SARIWON area on or about 9 Oct 50. PW escaped from the unit and was heading toward his home in PAKCHON (YE 2140) but he was picked up by ROK MP at YANGDOK (BU 4396) on 31 Oct 50.
