PW appeared to be in good physical condition and was cooperative. Not recommended for further interrogation. Information obtained fairly reliable.
3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:On 20 Sep 50 conscripted at CHAERYONG and received 10 days basic training. Moved to ONGJIN for approx 15 days. Unit moved north via HAEJU, SARIWON, P’YONGYANG, SINANJU, PAKCH’ON, TAECH’ON (YE1322), KUSONG (XE9229), and to SAKCHU (XE7473). While at PAKCH’ON, PW was assigned to 105th Tank Div. Unit stayed at SAKCHU for approx 6 days and on 061800 Nov 50 moved toward PAKCH’ON via KUSONG and TAECH’ON, taking to mountains 3 km south of KUSONG. Unit reached PAKCH’ON 070600 Nov 50. PW was ordered to prepare defense positions 2 km south of PAKCH’ON, but retreated when unit was attacked by UN Forces. No knowledge of assembly points.
Unit Strength and Weapons:
Co - (125 men & officers) - 2 HMG, 3 LMG rifles.
Bn - (700 men & officers) - 6 × 14.5mm AT rifles. 12 HMG, 16 LMG.
Regt composed of approx 3,000 men & officers.
Div - 4 Regts.
PW saw 3000 - 4000 CCF on or about 1 Nov 50 vicinity SAKCHU (Identified by speech; shoes). PW also observed 300 - 400 CCF on road to CHONGJU outside of KUSONG. (6 Nov 50).
