3. MILITARY HISTORY:15 Aug 47 - Inducted at ANWEIHSIEN (安微省) and assigned to the Engr Bn, 88th Army (CNA).
Mar 49 - Captured by CCF when PW’s unit was surrendered. Taken to SHANGHAI, and assigned to the 5th Co, 2nd Bn, 265th Regt, 89th Div.
13 Oct 50 - 20th Army left SHANGHAI.
16 Oct 50 - Arrived at YENJYU, SANDUNG SHIEN (三東省). Bassed through TUNGHUA (通化).
o/a 8 Nov 50 - 20th Army entered into KOREA.
28 Nov 50 - PW captured in SACHANG NI area.
4. ACTIVITIES OF THE 265th REGT IN KOREA.PW stated that he does not know the routes taken while in KOREA due to the fact that movements were made only during nights.
The Regtl HQs was located approx 8km (direction unknown) from where the PW was captured in SACHANG NI area.
The Regt moved east (?) from the YALU River crossing point for approx 20 nights (approx 8 hrs per night) when the 2nd Bn of the 265th Regt encountered the US troops, Fighting started from 1600 hrs and lasted for 4 hrs. The 4th and 5th Co were disorganized and PW surrendered. All officers retreated.
The 4th and 5th Co suffered approx l5 casualties. Activities of 1st and 3rd Bns, and its location was unknown, No leaflets observed by the PW.
Objects of the Regt was unknown to the PW.
5. WEAPONS AND PERSONNEL:265th Regt - Strength approx 1,000. Consisted of 1st, 2nd and 3rd Bns. The 1st Bn consisted of 1st, 2nd, 3rd and HMG Cos (3 Plats to a Co). The 2nd Bn consisted of 4th, 5th, 6th and HHG Cos. The rifle Cos consisted of 90 men armed with rifles and 80 rds of ammo per man, 2/50mm mortars with 50 rds each, and 6 LMGs with 1,000 rds each. HMG Cos consisted of 90 men (no rifles), 4 HMGs and 2 × 120mm Regt 1 mortars. The 3rd Bn consisted of 7th, 8th, 9th and HMG Cos. No details of the 266th and 267th Regts under the 89th division.

7. GENERAL:PW stated that approx 2/3 of the troops in his Regt are ex-CNA troops at the present time. There was no discrimination whatsoever between the ex-CNA and the CCF troops. Former CNA troops were able to receive promotion to Sqd leaders. No friction seen between former CNA and CCF troops. Rate of desertion was very low. Punishment for desertion was a reprimand.
8. MORALE:Morale was low due to lack of food and poor weapons. Both former CNA and CCF troops had no desire to fight due to lack of winter preparation.
The CCF troops requisitioned rations in KOREA by negotiating with the mayor of a village, and issued receipts when receiving the food. Troops commandeered NK houses for billets. No payment was made.
9. NK SENTIMENT:North Korean people disliked the CCF troops because they requisitioned food from them.
10. CCF OFFICERS AND TROOPS:CCF officers and troops of the 265th Regt wore the same uniform without insignias. Troops disliked the officers because they were forced to work hard.
Officers of the company level received no privileges, but ate and slept with the troops. There were two political officers to each Co. These officers gave lectures on Communism to the troops whenever time was available. Attention was given by the troops at these lectures.
