2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was cooperative, but did not have any tactical information. His information seemed fairly reliable. Not recommended for further interrogation.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
10 May 50: PW was inducted at SINUIJU (신의주) while he was attending medical college. Did not receive any military training but was commissioned Sr Lt (大尉) and was assigned to the 13th Div Hospital. PW specialized in internal medicine.
o/a 20 May 50: Transferred to tm Medical Training Company, 13th Div. Became the CO of this company and trained the medical aidemen.
o/a 17 Jun 50: The 13th Div departed SINUIJU by train.
o/a 20 Jun 50: The 13th Div reached YONCH’ON (漣川). The Medical Training Company was deactivated and all the medical aidemen were distributed to the Regts. PW was reassigned to the 13th Div Hospital.
1 Jul 50: The 13th Div entered SEOUL. While the 13th Div was in SEOUL for approx 10 days, PW worked in the SEOUL Medical College. He treated casualties from the 1st, 3rd and 4th Divs.
o/a 10 Jul 50: The 13th Div departed (marched) SEOUL.
o/a 12 Sep 50: The 13th Div reached HAJANG-DONG (下場洞 via SUWON (水原), CH'UNGJU (忠州) and SANGJU (尙州). PW estimated that the 13th Div suffered approx 3,000 casualties between HAMCH’ANG (咸昌) and HAJANG-DONG.
o/a 12 Sep 50: Promoted to Captain (總尉) and transferred to the Medical Unit, 19th Regt. The 19th Regt advanced to the hills located approx 4 km S of TABUDONG (多富洞). The Medical Unit of the 19th Regt was at a hill located approx 4 km N of TABU-DONG. The 21st, 23rd Regts and 13th Div Arty were also at the vicinity of TABU-DONG.
21 Sep 50: US troops started to attack TABU-DONG. The troops of the 13th Div were ill-trained replacements and most of them retreated to the N. Approx 200 troops of the 13th Div were not able to escape to the N, because the road was already blocked by US troops. The 200 troops crossed the mountain located W of TABU-DONG during the night of 21 Sep 50 and scattered.
23 Sep 50: PW and 4 others reached the road N of KUMCH’ON (金泉) and joined approx 30 NKPA troops on a truck moving to SANJU. They were captured by the US troops, when they reached SANJU.

Vehicles:
There were 2 ambulances, 2 trucks and 1 jeep in the Medical Bn (vehicles - Russian).

Equipment:
Medical equipment was mostly US and in fairly good condition.

Medical Supplies:
Medical supplies were sufficient and they were mostly Russian. There were Soviet, Japanese and N Korean medicinals.

Treatment:
Treatment was given to those who would recover in 3 to 4 days. Those who would not recover within 3 to 4 days were sent to the Corps Field Hospital. PW believes that the patients were given adequate treatment in the Medical Bn.

Transportation:
Wounded were evacuated by truck.
Note: Internal Medicine Section and Receiving Section both took care of wounded (external) after the war started. Personnel also increased.

Treatment: Only first aid treatment was given. Trucks were used to evacuate patients. However in peace time, the treatment of Regt personnel was done by this unit.
Note: There was one (1) Medical NCO assigned to each Bn. PW did not know the composition of Corps Field Hospital. Red Cross Insignia was used on hospital vehicles. Red Cross flags were used to indicate the locations of hospitals.

Morale and Propaganda:
Morale of the troops was vary low due to heavy casualties and US aircraft strafing. PW believes that propaganda leaflets would be very effective because the troops are now replacement with very little training. PW did net know that the UN forces had landed at INCH’ON (仁川) until he was captured 23 Sep 50.
