4th Division (Code 1485) was composed of 5th, 16th, and 18th Rifle Regiments, Artillery Regiment (Code 496), 45 mm AT Gun Bn, Engineer Bn, Signal Bn, SP Gun Bn, and Intendance Company.
Artillery Regiment was composed of 3 Arty Bn, Hq Co, Band Plt, and Medical Section.
Each Artillery Battalion was composed of two 76 mm Field Gun Companies, a 122 mm Howitzer Co, Hq Plt, Supply Plt, and an Intendance squad.

LOCATION AND ACTIVITIES OF UNITS: (14 Sep 50)
Arty Regt, 4th Division was located in an area from PURIM MYON (1131-1385).
The infantry units were being pushed across the NAKTONG River and were assembling on the hills located in the loop of the NAKTONG River (1140-1392).
OP of Artillery Regiment located on hill 253 (1136-1388).
4th Division Headquarter was located at KYONGSAN NI (1135-1386). Route of withdrawal of 4th Division will be from KYONGSAN NI to SINBAN NI, to CHUCHON NI, to OSAN NI, to HYOPCHON. From HYOPCHON, the route of withdrawal will vary with the situation.
6th Division located in CHINJU Sector.
7th Division located directly South of 4th Division.
2nd Division located North of 4th Division.
10th Division located North of 2nd Division.

PERSONAL AND UNIT HISTORY:
Inducted Dec 47 at KAECHON. Commissioned as Sr Lieutenant (Artillery) Dec 47 because of his education. Received one month Artillery training at KAECHON. Transferred to an Artillery Regiment at SINUIJU during Jan 50. Transferred to newly organized 4th Div, Arty Regiment at CHINUL RI (14 Km North of CHINNAMPO) during Sep 48.
The Artillery Regiment, 4th Division passed through the following places while traveling from CHINUL RI to HYOPCHON between 18 Jun and 30 Jul 50:
CHINUL RI, PYONGSAN, SEOUL, SUWON, CHONAN, KONGJU, NONSAN, TAEJON, KUMSAN, CHANGGYERI, KOCHANG.
Element of Artillery Regiment, 4th Division crossed NAKTONG River SE of HYOPCHON on 9 Aug 50. Rest of the Artillery Regiment was located near PURIMMYON. On later crossing, the 4th Division was withheld as reserve.
On 14 Sep 50 PW received orders to proceed to the Front Line GHQ (Army) located in KUMCHON. When he reached KUMCHON on 20 Sep 50 he was told that the Front Line GHQ moved to SANGJU. Then he went to SANGJU, and as he was entering the city on 232300 K Sep 50 he was captured by US 7th Cav Regiment.

REPLACEMENTS:
Approximately 70% of the troops now with the 4th Division was replacements, majority of which were untrained South Korean Conscripts.

FOOD AND AMMO SUPPLIES:
Food was obtained locally.
Ammo was usually transported by train from North Korea to CHIKCHISA (   ) and was stored in a tunnel prior to shipment to divisions. Trucks from each division usually came to CHIKCHISA to haul ammo. At times trucks were dispatched to SEOUL to haul ammo and gasoline.

ARMOR & ARTILLERY:
Two T-34/85 Tank observed on 14 Sep 50 at HYOPCHON heading eastward.

MORALE:
Morale was low due to lack of NK Air Power, ammo and food.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
The highest NK organ in South Korea was the Front Line GHQ (Army) under which there were the I and II Corps and Tank units. Area of the I Corps was South of highway leading from TAEGU to SEOUL via TAEJON.
The following divisions were under the I Corp:
4th, 6th, 7th and 10th.
PW believes that in event their unit is out off, the troops will disperse and not fight. Troops will probably be discharged from the service on the field, and will be left to their own accord.
