3. MILITARY HISTORY:Inducted 12 Sep 50 at CHORWON (鐵原) and attached to 513th Unit, 1st Bn. 513th is an Arty Unit. Strength was approx 1,296 men. The unit was composed of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Bns on date prior to capture.
Source did not observe any artillery or ammunition, but they were told that these would be issued. 402 men of the 1st Bn were armed with carbines with 115 rds of ammo. 30 man ware unarmed. There were 432 hand grenades. The 513th Unit had an unknown number of field telephones, wireless equipment, and 2 or 3 trucks (2½T).
The entire 513th Unit departed CHORWON (鐵原) on 20 Sep 50 and arrived SEOUL on 23 Sep 50 by foot at night. Place of assembly was the SEOUL ZOO on date prior to capture. PW's Pltn vent to AHYONCHON (阿現叮) to dig trenches.
4. FOOD:Troops received three large fist size rice balls daily with small pieces of dried salted fish.
