ASSESSMENT:
15 soldiers including PW were captured on 23 Sep 50 while they entered SANGJU by truck. PW was hunting for the Front Line Hq.
PW was cooperative, but info was very limited.

PERSONAL & UNIT HISTORY:
Inducted 3 Jul 50 at PYONGYANG.
While traveling to SANGJU from PYONGYANG, the following places wore passed: UIJONGBU, SEOUL, WONJU, CHECHON, TANYANG, YONGJU, ANDONG, YECHON, SANGJU, KUMCHON, KOCHANG, CHINJU and KUMCHON arriving SANGJU on 23 Sep. Captured at SANGJU.
While PW was at SEOUL, he was a cadre at the Front Line Army Hq, 3rd Reserve Regt.
PW instructed in close-order drill, rifle nomenclature, cooking and living under field conditions. The class requirements varied so he did not know how many recruits passed this Reserve Regt. Whenever any Div sought replacements, these recruits were sent out. At times, some did not receive any training, because front-line units needed men so badly.
On 15 Aug 50, PW was ordered to go to the Front Line Hq for assignment at KUMCHON; however, when he reached there, be did nett find the Hq but proceeded to CHINJU area. Still unable to find the Hq, he returned to SANGJU and was heading for SEOUL when captured.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
PW stated that any person who wanted to enter the Officers Training School was able to do so without entrance examinations.
One Plt consisted of about 30 men, but it was so variable that he did not know how many students were in his class. If the front line units needed men, students were sent out and their vacancy filled by now students.
PW stated that there were an unknown number of Bns and Companies in this school.
Inf, Arty and other unknown branches of service courses were taught in this school. Classes were usually held out-doors because of air raids. The instructors were all Koreans, usually Lt’s. All those who graduated became Jr Lts.
The length of classes also varied, because of rain and air raids. Students arose at 0500 and ate at 0600. Then go to the field for classes. They are instructed in close ordered drill, nomenclature of weapons, etc. There were no examinations, but questions pertaining to the previous day's lectures were asked of students.
No books were utilized.
PW graduated from the school within 20 days.
